Young bunnies can have unlimited grass hay. As long as they are getting pellets with alfalfa in them they don’t need alfalfa hay.

The ups and downs do sound like her tummy is coming back online. I understand how stressful it is to see them up and down like this. 🙁 Come on Hunny, stop stressing your mom out!

On my bun’s first day home he didn’t pee or poop at all, and finally, the next day, he went as normal, so I would just give Hunny a little more time then check back with her. I would only be worried if his pupils were different or something like that. I think constriction of the pupils while sleeping with their eyes open is a normal reaction. Their eyes are open, but their eyes are trying to shut out the light.

As soon as Hunny finished drinking and passing gas, she gobbled up six more pieces of cilantro. She may have done more poops too. She only did a penny-sized speck of pee (abnormal, even since stasis started), so I’m concerned about that…

Hunny definitely seems to be in pain. She is grinding her teeth like crazy. I just rubbed her tummy some more, and two poops came out, crushed-looking (this happened a couple more times tonight, now that I think about it).

LATEST UPDATE: My mother sat with Hunny for a while and managed to get her to eat a piece of romaine and six pieces of cilantro (Hunny’s apparent favorite). My girl did a bunch of almost-normal poops and tried to eat some hay but couldn’t get it in her. Just wanted to bump this and say bonton went back to the vet today for his follow up and was given a clean bill of health!!! His chest X-ray showed no more infection!

You should separate them from each other. Two separate living enclosures with at least a space in between, as rabbits have been known to mate and harm each other through a cage wall. Ok phew, he has light brown eyes so it was a bit frightening, glad to know its normal.

Normal, especially if the lighting is bright. However, nothing is creepier than a flopped bunny sleeping with their eyes open, the pupil constricted because the eye pointed toward the light.

Thanks! That’s a good point. I’d like to try bringing her to the litter box before she has an accident, but besides from the tail lift I have no other cues. She pees so quickly too. Is there a way she would stand right before she pees that could tell me she’s about to go?
