Sounds like you are getting some answers! And good that she hasn’t lost much weight despite everything!
Misaligned teeth is often genetic, but can occur due to normal aging as well as bone density changes (although this usually doesn’t show up till age 6 or so). Unfortunately lion heads are a breed that is becoming associated with dental issues,…[Read more]

Small breeds tend to reach full size around 6 months, so it’s probably OK to start making the switch now.

I’m not sure if she is still growing. She’s pretty big at 5 pounds I don’t think she will get much bigger. We are slowing mixing in timothy pellets and she has been loving those

You won’t see nesting behavior until right before she gives birth. Keep an eye out for that since it will be a while yet. It’s good you have separated them.
When you say it’s obvious he’s a male, did you mean his testicles are visible?

I’m glad, too, but also nervous. I pray Hunny just has a tiny abscess that can be treated with antibiotics (I was wrong when I said she received one from the vet today; Hunny actually got a drug that prevents GI problems in addition to more Meloxicam). I’m afraid she’ll either have a big one or have to lose a tooth. I can’t imagine how stressful…[Read more]

I agree with Wick. Try switching “cold turkey”. It won’t hurt if your bunny doesn’t eat a lot of hay for a few days. They usually give in once they realize no alfalfa is coming. Is your bunny still growing?

Wick & Fable replied to the topic bunny will only eat alfalfa in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 4 months ago
Alfalfa tastes really good and I don’t think many rabbits would ever choose something else if alfalfa is available, haha. My Wick barely ate his Timothy pellets when we first transitioned, but eventually he got there. He was never on alfalfa hay (health reasons), but I imagine the same difficulty would have existed. I haven’t read of many rabbits…[Read more]

It depends, she should have Alfalfa as long as she’s still growing. Are you feeding Alfalfa or Timothy based pellets? They only need one source of Alfalfa, either hay or pellets.

I’m glad you got an earlier appointment. 🙂
So her lower incisors are misaligned, why does he want to do a CT scan? Just to rule out anything else? Or does he think the misalignment was caused recently by an underlying issue rather than being a “natural” development brought on by age? If there’s an abscess, shouldn’t it be visible on the…[Read more]

My bunny is 5 months old and I have started trying to switch over to timothy. I have tried oxbow timothy, oxbow orchard grass, and oxbow botanical hay. She refuses to eat all of them and will only eat alfalfa. I have tried mixing it and she will pick out the alfalfa and leave the other hay. I’m not sure what to do. I just placed an order from…[Read more]

Furbuster Comb is a favorite with long hair. Zoom Groom or similar “brushes” are popular with shorter hair. I do a lot of hand plucking too. It really just depends on fur type, shedding pattern and what works for your bunny.

Hmm… underneath the skin. Are they following the mammary chains? It could be cystic mastitis.

@binkithecutebunny How long ago was it that Binki’s litter habits deteriorated? Was there a change in environment around that time? Or a different pet that cage into “her” space?
It’s unusul for an adult rabbit (even unneutered) that had good habits to just lose them unless something triggered it or there is underlying health issue, imo.

If he toilets in the blanket, then yes, I’d remove it. I may have misunderstood when you wrote “all around the cage”. Had you mean he was toileting all around in his cage, or around it when he comes out of the cage.
“Exercise pen” is a bit of a misnomer really. They’re sold as those for puppies and maybe kittens. I often interchange…[Read more]
