She’s very cute <3
I had a crazy carpet digger too! In her main living area, I used a piece of plywood with vinyl tiles on it, then grass mats on top. I’ve also seen ppl use those hard plastic carpet protectors meant for under an office chair as the base flooring. Then you can add fleece, cardboard, or grass mats to add traction.
Ditto Wick on…[Read more]

I’m not sure. My experience is some bunnies from the start are less stressed by the car, and others are just stressed, no matter what you do. My sense is it has more to do with the rabbit’s personality than getting them used to the car.
Having them think of their carrier as a safe space does help in general, so if possible you can leave it out…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Why is my Medically Healthy Rabbit not Eating or Pooping? in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years, 3 months ago
Ah, yeah pellets are worth a try! Most bunnies love them. There are even some brands that are formulated to be free-fed in larger amounts for buns that have trouble eating hay if it ends up being a longer term solution. Normally those aren’t recommended because we all want our buns to eat hay, but this is a special circumstance!

Hazel – Agreed. A report was made to animal services so hopefully they do a home check to make sure they don’t have any more neglected animals on the property.

No significant change. Hunny did poop and pee in the night, so that’s good, but otherwise, she’s still not eating and having immense difficulty chewing whenever she decides to put something in her mouth. She took a few nibbles of cilantro this morning, but that’s it.
The vet who gave Hunny her CT scan told us to try giving our girl pellets. When…[Read more]

A tile or piece of cardboard may be best. I have a carpet chewer/digger as well. Sometimes she gets into ‘funks’ where she really wants to get a certain area, so I’ll put a sheet of cardboard there or try and redirect that energy to other toys. For her, I use packing paper (i.e. kraft paper/cardboard paper) and hold it while she chews and claws at…[Read more]

Wow, I don’t even know what to say to that. 😯 To think that someone would put a clearly neglected animal on Craigslist, not even worrying about possibly getting in legal trouble is just unbelievable. And then having the gall to say they were giving him a “better” life? People make me sick. 😡

Bun-chan replied to the topic bunny doesn't like hideouts in the forum HABITATS AND TOYS 6 years, 3 months ago
I recently got a cat house from ikea. It’s the same felt material as the fabric under our couch that she likes to hide under. She just doesn’t go in that hideout to hang out. I’ve tried to move the cat house around so the back is facing a corner, so the view would be the same as if she was hiding in a corner. I have no idea why she still doesn’t like it.

I have been using a vinegar water mix to clean the area where the pee was. Should I use something else?

Cars do make rabbits nervous but I think if you were to keep that up, your rabbit would slowly get used to it.

No he can jump in easily. I’m fact he is sleeping in it all the time and even today he was sleeping in the litter box then got out of it, peed onto the plastic next to the litter box and lied on it… and I’m really doing anything I can to let him know this is a litter box every day I’m putting wet tissues with what he’s done and also poop and I’m…[Read more]

Hi!
I use a small slicker brush for my teddy lionhead bun. It has tiny plastic knobs at the end of the bristles, so it won’t hurt his skin. He has lots of super-soft hair, but he is not very prone to tangling. Bad knots and tangles will have to be cut out completely or cut into, so they can be picked out or untangled with your fingers.
