    Hiya!!!

I agree with Jersey. Considering his age, arthritis pain could be preventing him from reaching back there.

Yes, a possible dental problem is definitely worth exploring. If she isn’t used to eating hay though, it might be hard to get her to start. You don’t know what her background is. Wherever she came from, they could have been feeding her junk food. So she could be used to that.

What about hay toppers like dried herbs or willow leaves?

I agree with what’s already said. My bun is 6 mo and is pretty lean but eats a healthy diet and is still growing.

    OMG, he’s precious! Poor baby!

Was he kept in a wire cage? Wire flooring causes calluses and eventually sore hocks. It sounds like he just has irritated calluses right now, so you might be able to get away with clipped nails, softer flooring and ointment on the calluses. You can use something like bag balm to soothe the area. If it gets worse,…[Read more]

is she young? a lot of rabbits don’t like eating timothy hay right away. I would feed her pellets for now, but not eating hay can also be a symptom of dental problems.

Nah, I’m sure she was just taking her frustrations out on the toy. 🙂  Two months old is a bit young to be hormonal. When she starts to mature, you may notice more behaviors that might be perceived as aggression.

She’s two months old and not spayed yet. If it’s a temper tantrum then I actually feel a bit better. I was worried that she would become aggressive with everything like I unlocked a new personality or something.

The bald patch on her ear could be from an IV being inserted into that vein.

I’m hesitant to suggest this since she isn’t used to eating pellets, but what about junior/young bunny formula pellets? They contain alfalfa, so they have a sweeter taste. The adult formula is sweet too… I’m just trying to think what would be enticing. You wouldn’t be…[Read more]

Bunnies can have what we would describe as “temper tantrums” when they are frustrated. If she knew pellets were in the toy, but couldn’t get them out, I could see her becoming frustrated. How old is she? And is she spayed yet? Hormones can contribute to the frustration as well.

Considering his age, he could have his adult coat coming in. The texture can change during this time. Small bunnies stop growing around 6 months of age, larger bunnies continue to grow longer than that. Even though they are done growing in size, young bunnies tend to look lean until they fill out a bit at around 9-12 months (depending on breed…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic Carpet Eating Rabbit! How to stop it? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 3 months ago

Oh yes, bitter apple is surprisingly tasty for rabbits. 🙄

I think putting down tile or some other type of material to cover the carpet is your best bet.

    Hi Jersey! 🙂

Not too much has changed recently with his diet. He did get a dose of Revolution about a week or so ago for fur mites, so that might be a factor.

His weight is good and he is eating a lot. He is doing good with hay, pellets, greens and treats.

I will look into an anti inflammatory and see if that helps.

    Thank you! 🙂

My bunny has been friendly and calm ever since we got her. Until last night I made that rabbit toy with a kitchen roll and hid snacks (pellets) in it. She seemed to have lost her temper really quickly and started throwing the toy around like a cat trying to kill a mouse. She also aggressively digs at the toy. Is that frustration? Am I not feeding…[Read more]

Hi! About a month ago I caught the rabbit that someone abandoned in my backyard. But I can’t get her to eat more than a bite of hay. I’ve tried different flavors but that didn’t help. All I give her now is lots and lots of kale and she’ll eat a small bowl of pellets. A couple weeks ago we rushed her to the emergency vet and they said she had GI…[Read more]

Thank you for the kind words everyone. Fresno (who I’ve started calling Fizz lol) appreciates the love. The vets around me aren’t able to see him this weekend so I clipped his nails and noticed he has what I’m assuming are sore hocks? The bottom of his back feet are red and feel rough and scabby but I don’t see any pus. So I switched his floorin…[Read more]

It can definitely be just from grooming. Rabbits lose a really thick coat due to the summer weather, so that actually looks quite natural to me. As long as the fur is coming out easily and any bare skin exposed looks healthy, you’re helping your rabbit shed their coat and not eat it!

I welcome you to create your own topic for your concern Lucas.

A dead bug or two is not uncommon in hay due to how it’s harvested. Simply throw the bug out. It should not cause any issues! People have found dead snakes and birds in their hay at times shockingly!
