Hmmm, is she going through a heavy molt? Sometimes a big shed can make buns cranky and cause a bit of tummy upset. Sounds like she may have had some gas, which the pain med would help with.

You can also give some tummy rubs and simethicone (baby gas drops) if she seems to still be uncomfortable. Gas can also cause some fluctuations in poop sizes.…[Read more]

Hi everyone I really hope someone can help me with my bunny problem. So my rabbit Liliana is a 6-7 month old angora/chinchilla cross and is not spayed due to covid right now but i plan on spaying her ASAP. She’s very outgoing and energetic but in the last 48 hours she hasn’t been wanting to come out for play time after she eats like she has been…[Read more]

Increase in protein would result in more urea because the nitrogen in the aminoacids is shed in the urine in the form of urea. So an increase in protein intake would cause smellier urine.

What makes you say your rabbit has delicate lungs?

As Bam mentions, people don’t usually cover the entire area of a rabbit’s home base with bedding. Bedding is usually used as litter, and placed in the litterbox. A lot of rabbit-safe litters have very little dust, such as the wood-stove pellets that are mentioned above. Other animal litters, like…[Read more]

Part of me wonders if maybe he just peed in a specific area of the box that day, so the urine kind of built up more than normal in one area?

I’ve also heard that sometimes additional protein in the diet can cause urine to smell more strongly because more urea is produced, but I need to find the primary source on that (and I might have my…[Read more]

Many people (myself included) use pine pellet litter, sold either as feline pine, horse stall pellets, or wood stove pellets. They work well and are very cheap and safe (if you can get them as horse stall bedding or stove pellets without any additives).

If you have a cheap source of hay you can also just use a very thick fluffy layer of hay. Not…[Read more]

Straw pellets for horses can be used as bedding. They are sold for horses, so you wont find them in pet shops.

Most of us here dont really use bedding in our rabbits’ cages/condos/enclosures. I use bedding only in the litter boxes. This makes it a bit easier for the rabbit to distinguish between toilet-area and living-area.

Fleece can be used in…[Read more]

Some bunnies will also take CC willingly from a spoon or a plate, especially if it is mixed up pretty thick. You might try that if you haven’t already. Some bunnies like it more if it’s mixed with a little canned pumpkin, and adding some mashed banana will also help (but you want to keep an eye on how much so she doesn’t get too much…[Read more]

Weigh-in is a good idea. Just gave 1.5ml of baby Ovol bc i could hear her insides gurgling and could see her skin along her sides rippling. Very distressing that I can’t physically bring her on right now. However she took a few good pinches of the shorter Alfalfa hay,

It’s a bit difficult to say exactly how much food. My 1.5 kilo bun was prescribed 15 ml of critical care (mixed with water to a paste) 5-6 times per day when he was ill and couldnt eat anything else.

For a 2 kilo bun, Oxbow says 49 grams of dry Critical Care per day will cover nutritional needs. I think you can translate that into pellets and get…[Read more]
