Thank you LB! I had their nails cut tonight, and took a look at Roo’s hocks, you’ll need to push away hair to see them which I take as a good thing..slightly flakey, but dry and hard pink spot…Will be keeping an eye on them!

I’m taking him this Friday. That was the soonest I could get him in.
my vet is 45 minutes away but it’s well worth it.
my friend who is a rabbit owner and she said it could be a cyst but that the vet will know for sure
I’ll keep you updated

I agree with the ceramic tiles idea, We have also tried ceramic vases and bowls with success haha.
A few contributing factors though: how big is their cage? Free roam bunnies are less likely to be destructive since digging behavior can stem from boredom. You can temporarily end the digging behavior with ceramic tiles, however digging is in a…[Read more]

Hi all. I’m in a state where RHDV2 has been found. I have two new 11 week old bunnies and one 10 1/2 year old bunny. All the bunnies are indoor only and only travel if they have to go to the vet. None of them have been vaccinated.
Both my local vets have said not to worry about it as they’re indoor only and neither of the vets have had cases of…[Read more]

Everything you have mentioned is good. But I agree with Bam that a variety of surfaces is probably the best way to go. And yes, nothing too abrasive! Calluses are not necessarily a bad thing. Many rabbits will develop them as they age.

How did things go at the vet? Hopefully it was nothing to worry about.

Rex rabbits are v prone to sore hocks, and as they age, they pretty much invariably will develop bald spots/calluses on their hocks. As long as the skin stays intact this needent be a huge issue.
So, it is good to trim the nails often, it is good to have a layer of hay or straw on top of the absorbant matter in the litterbox, and it is good to…[Read more]

I’m very sorry you lost your bun, and in such an upsetting way. It sounds like maybe his heart gave out. There probably wouldn’t have been anything a vet couldve done. He didn’t die alone, you were there for him.
He seem’s to have been ill a long time. I’m sorry you couldn’t get a proper diagnosis for him. This is not rarely the case with…[Read more]

Hi guys. My bunny died very traumatically this morning and I have no idea why. Please let me know if you have gone through anything similar
My male bunny was 7-8 years old and his health has been declining the past year or so. I took him to the vet 3 months ago and he weighed 2.5 pounds and then took him to the vet 1 month ago and he lost 30% of…[Read more]

Hi there!
I currently have 2 bonded bunnies. One is a Havana female and the other a male Lionhead.
it seems that my Lionhead has a very sensitive stomach and does not do well with fresh greens or any type of treats.  He gets so many Cecotropes and this happens about 3 weeks after being given to him.  He’s only been getting one Oxbow Timothy tre…[Read more] -

Hi all,
Recently, I have noticed that my rex-mix roo has developed small pink hocks. No sign of fur-loss yet, but the pink is making me freak out.
I think its due to a variety of factors:
1. I haven’t been on top of her nail-clipping lately, our previous vet told us it was fine to clip their nails three months apart, which I have found to be…[Read more]

Hi Ros, this is a very old thread, and since you have your own issue it’s recommended to start a new thread with your topic. The short answer to your question is it sounds like the treats are the problem, so I would cut those out. You can experiment with other types of treats to see if that helps. Some buns do well with dried herbs or greens as a…[Read more]

So I decided to get my bunny into the vet for this Friday for an exam. I’m really hoping this bump ends up being nothing to worry about

So do you think I should call my vet? The only way I can tell is when I pat him. It’s right above or next to his tail. I was thinking it could be some hair that is matted but it’s hard to tell.

LBJ10 replied to the topic Bump in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years, 3 months ago
It isn’t unusual for young bunnies to allow people to hold and cuddle them. Coincidentally, this also allows you to become very familiar with them which makes it easier to notice changes. Considering his age, it probably isn’t a tumor. But, it could be an abscess from an injury when he was really small. Lipomas are generally seen in overweight rabbits.

Hi there! I have a male Lionhead that producing lots of Cecotropes and mostly after giving him treats.  The only treat he gets is Oxbow Simple Reward Timothy treats.  They look like a cheerio and I’ve only been giving him one at night.  Today he left a pile of squished together Cecotropes in his pen and on the outside of his pen.  The only thing…[Read more]
