RetroSquid – I’m so sorry, I don’t know how this one slipped through the cracks. I didn’t see it until now. 🙁  We have been having issues with uploading media in general lately. There seems to be something wrong with the site.

I’m very sorry to hear about Biscuits. It seems these things always happen over weekends and holidays. However, it…[Read more]

I only ever seem to make it back here when things are the absolute worst.

I tried uploading pictures but the site isn’t playing well with my phone. I uploaded some in the lounge, I think, when Biscuits came to us 6 months ago.

After a rough morning of presumed GI Stasis, doing all the things we know to do in these situations, he wasn’t…[Read more]

Wow, I’m glad you got some answers! Poor Nellie, I’m sure the injury has just finally caught up with her. :/

Thanks for your reply! So incase anyone is wondering my exotics told me they are fine to give together but work better when spread out.

Also things with Nellie have changed quite significantly since this post! She finally got a referral to a full exotics specialist hospital and the doctor was amazing! She had yet a third relapse a week ago today…[Read more]

Update: So I tried ordering Small Pet Select and it never came. Out of desperation, I picked up a bag of Oxbow at the store. This one didn’t have alfalfa in it! But… someone decided he didn’t like it. Of course…

Out of desperation again, I ordered a box of Rabbit Hole. And no alfalfa either! That is just so weird! At least he was happy with it.

Does your bunny ever flop? Sometimes lazy bunnies (or less active buns) prefer the flop to show happiness versus a binky since it seems to take less effort haha! One of our buns (who we suspect may be older in age, he was adopted from a rough background so his age is unknown) never really binkies, but sleeps a lot and flops often.

    I agree with…[Read more]

Yes, I would like to know as well. Some bunnies are just… lazy. I had a bunny that never binkied or did zoomies. Never. He slept a lot. My current bunny runs around like a maniac all the time.

In what ways does he act generally unhealthy? How is his weight, appetite, fur quality (a poirly bun often looks dishevelled, the fur has no sheen to it) pooping and peeing habits? Has anything in his apoearance or behavior changed?

Not all buns do much. Some are quite content just existing in the same room as their human. Does he hide all the…[Read more]

I adopted a Rex rabbit several years back, which is the third rabbit I’ve ever adopted. I believe he was about six months old when I adopted him, which makes him just about four years old now. He has a large living area, plenty of food (hay, pellets, and greens), a soft bed, a clean litter box, lots of toys and hidey places, and plenty of social…[Read more]

It isn’t unheard of to give them together. They each work in a different part of the gut, so the theory is they are safe to give together. I don’t know about actual dosage though.

    Hey

Is it common practice to dose a bun recovering from gas with metacloprimide and cisapride + Loxicom in one medication sitting?

Nellie has had a bad bout of gas the last week that we were initially successfully treating with cisapride and Loxicom (already perscribed for arthritis) When I was tapering her off after 3 days to one daily dose we…[Read more]

    Thank you for your input!

Yes, I think buns are often misunderstood and the bond shared between them and their human.

I also agree that some people tend to like to “one up” others, whether that be in grief or other areas of life.

I had a cat that lived 19 years, I do think the time made an impact.  But mostly because the memories and bond you form in that time. Her death was also very traumatic and that didn’t help. Not anything to do with the species. I absolutely love my two buns and would also be devastated if I lost either one of them. I will have spent 6 years with…[Read more]

I had a bunny that had hindquarters instability later in life after an injury. He declined rapidly after that point but I was looking into getting him a wheelchair. They make bunny wheelchairs online if you have the measurements. This might improve his quality of life. Just a thought.

I also agree, it’s not a competition. I think some people just misunderstand bunnies the bond bunnies and humans can have, probably due to them being viewed as ‘lesser’ like other people have said. I’ve had people suggest my bunnies are stupid etc (which here we know is very false!) but then after meeting and spending time with them they change…[Read more]

A very large litter tray might help. We use the bottom of one of them pet store rabbit cages repurposed as a big hay station and they really seem to enjoy all the space, perhaps something like that could help. I couldn’t upload a photo here but there is a pic of them in their hay station tray on my profile if you want to see the size. Have you…[Read more]
