I probably should’ve put this in the behavioural thread.
She doesn’t have accidents in the common area, just in her room where they spend most of their time. They have a whole small bedroom to themselves. I usually have a towel underneath the trays or fleece just to catch accidents incase the bum is hanging out, but she will just pee on the…[Read more] -

Cage rattling can definitely be loud and disruptive. Have you tried attaching a bedsheet or something outside the Xpen to visually block her seeing outside of it? There is a common phenomena where rabbits will chew and pull at cage bars, even if the door is open. It supports the fact that they are really bugged by things “being in their way”.…[Read more]

I’m curious about how bonding proceeded between the two of them. Depending on how large their space is, they may actually still be going through a territory pee/poop war, which would explain why both of them are having more accidents than usual. I don’t think there’s really a logical reason to believe rabbits can adopt other’s “bad habits”, so I’m…[Read more]

Hello,
recently my female bunny Luna has started marking her territory. She’s not yet spayed as she’s only 5 months old and vets prefer to wait until they’re at least 6-7 months. In the beginning she only peed in my bed and I read that I should block it off so I used her x pen to block it so she can’t access it (I should mention she’s free roam…[Read more]

My girl has weak back legs and for the first 2 months I had her, she never peed on towels/fleece.
I use towels and fleece to line the floor as I have timber flooring.
I used to line her room with a kids playmat but if I don’t find the pee fast enough, it will seep through and I want to avoid damaging the flooring obviously. I’ve now removed it…[Read more] -

@jerseygirl Oh, the Rhinelander took my breath away when I saw her! Though I have never seen any in person. But they are stunning!
@DanaNM Wow! Moose was such a handsome boy! (and a ham 😆 )
@Hazel Tans are gorgeous! They look so soft!
@Prince Dorian the bun: Belgium Hares do have large ears! Nice to put a name to the face!…[Read more]

I think if you can handle working with all 4 together, it would be better to work with the 4 at the same time since that’s the main goal.
The space is definitely important and should be as neutral as possible. I’ve sent you a PM with a video that might be helpful to you.

I didn’t realise Moose was a satin! So beautiful. x
@HipHopBunny, I’ve always found the Rhinelander so pretty. I’ve never met any but I’m told they have a bit of satin sheen to their coat also?
@PrinceDorian, I agree, the belgian hares are gorgeous. I suspect they’re very active, like the Tans. Less of a pet and more of a fanciers breed. Th…[Read more]

Sharing a playtime area is good, but not at the same time as the other one, right? For when you officially do start bonding sessions, once you have mastered neutral territory, a place where neither bun has been before, the playtime area could work as semi-neutral-territory.
You could wait to let them see each other when for when you start…[Read more]

I’ve bough my rabbit a dog crate to turn into a two maybe even three story cage. I was wondering if anyone had pictures of the crate cage to show me ideas. Also, what did you use to make the floors/shelves/levels?

Thank you so much! I’ll wait those few weeks to start prebonding then. They will have to be housed next to each other a few inches apart as soon as they get here since it’s the space that I have. I don’t plan on letting them see each other for a while, I can put blankets over one pen while the other is out. Should I wait to let them see each other…[Read more]

Thank you for the responses! The actual floor part isn’t too much of an issue, it’s more the 6″ going up the sides of the cage. I added that in hopes that it will reduce how much fur and poop gets tossed out of the cage, and it works great except for this one spot in the back that he just won’t leave alone. I just replaced the coroplast three days…[Read more]

Thanks Dana, I’ve seen them lady and the tramp it with a lettuce and everything you mentioned above.
There’s never any fur pulling or nipping even before they were bonded.
The fast chasing.. can’t really tell coz my girl can’t run that fast, tho I have seen her stack it when she was trying to jump up somewhere when she was startled by his sudden movement. -

My two-cents on this topic is that this topic is something of a double-edged sword in a way. The reason I say this is because in the negative side, this type of animals is loosely defined, so people have pushed the sanity limits, from bringing in many variations of animals. Specifically, one woman has brought a peacock and CNN reported on someone…[Read more]

@Bam that’s pretty cool, were they bunny ornaments?
& now I am noticing long white hairs through out his coat, I thought it was loose hairs at first, but nope. No idea what is going on anymore with his coat… though we are both ready for the endless molt the stop now.
