Bun Jovi reporting for white rabbit duty!  And Myra, except for her nose, ears, paws, and tail! Her markings are getting super light though, because it’s been so warm! I didn’t know until recently that California breed rabbits markings get darker or lighter depending on the temp.

I can’t believe Jasiri is almost 3!! Time sure does fly….

Oh I see! And yes if they can jump on the hidey house I would take it out, at least for a couple days. They would probably appreciate a hiding spot though, so I wonder if you could give them a tunnel or something domed? Could maybe fashion a triangle shaped hide out of cardboard? That way they can hide but not jump on top?

That sounds like it would be ok then. Set the new bun up near your current bun, not in the neutral spot. Save the neutral spot for the actual bonding sessions. 🙂

Agree with Wick that it would be good to get a vet’s opinion to make sure there isn’t something else going on.

Could it be dried blood? Does it come off easily? It’s not uncommon for buns to break a nail now and then. Some buns have more brittle nails than some buns, and are thus more prone, but anybunny can happen to break a nail, f ex during playtime.

It doesn’t ring any alarm bells with me and does not seem vet worthy. Does she seem OK?

Getting two large cages built for $100 seems a bit like a steal in my mind. I keep my house around 72 degrees, maybe fluctuating a degree or two. I dropped her off at the vet this morning though so I hope everything goes smoothly:( over the phone she didn’t sound too concerned, she said she most likely needed some anti gas medicine and some fluids

Honestly because you just bonded them, I’m inclined to think this is most likely territorial marking and will hopefully stop once they finish working out dominance.

On the topic of heat, how cold/hot is it in your house? We all have different ideas of cool which is why I ask. Buns are most comfortable under 80f and can get overheated over that.

Google “nic cube rabbit cage” and you will get not only pictures but also some nice explanations of how to set it up. These aren’t strictly dog crates of course but should give you the ideas you need to make it work.

Give him a couple days to settle in if he needs it. Moving van be a lot of stress. My Clover just wanted to hide for her entire first week. Of course your mileage may vary and he might settle in faster! Anyhow you can probably still house them side by side while he settles, as long as he has a safe place to hide if he’s afraid.
