How long ago did this happen? What is her housing set-up like? Do you always have to pick her up to take her out of her hutch? It does sound like your niece scared her, but I’m wondering if she feels more vulnerable because you always have to pick her up?

This is very likely teenage hormonal bun behavior, and “speaking bunny” should also help. One of my buns was pretty nippy when I got him (he was recently neutered at that point) but doing the loud squeak did help a lot.

First of all try to dry him and keep him warm. Wrap him in a blanket, give him a warm water bottle or sit him in your lap. It is adamant that you keep him warm. A sick bun that gets cold can go into irreversible medical chock.

It’s OK to clean his environment a few times, but don’t stress about it too much. It’s unlikely he is actively shedding spores at this point. EC recovery can be up and down at times, so don’t get discouraged if there’s a little setback. I’m glad he likes the recovery food, that makes things much easier.
