For my bun’s setup (I have original hardwood floors from 1939) I first lay down a plastic tarp and secure it to the floor with painter’s tape (for easy removal and to prevent adhesive leaving a mark). My setup is against two walls, so I make sure that the plastic overlaps the baseboard, creating a lip against the wall to prevent any urine dam…[Read more]

Thank you for taking the time to reply! I have some cardboard packing material that has a hexagonal structure that is perfect for hiding treats in. We’ve been having fun with that this evening 🙂

Hi! If you try a digging box with shredded paper, hiding some treats inside might urge your bun to find them, however, some rabbits are not so food-motivated. I like to hide treats around and my Louie loves to seek them out, he is a sucker for some banana!

Hi Dana,
Thank you for your quick reply and for your recommendations! I will try all of them out – I’m sure that Pancake will engage with at least one 🙂 I moved into a large house a year and a half ago from a very cramped living space, so we’ve had the room to give her exercise but she does sort of just lie around. Since COVID has forced me…[Read more]

Hi there, welcome 🙂
It’s great that you are hoping to give some enrichment and are improving her situation. Rabbits don’t really forage in dirt or while digging, so that probably explains why she doesn’t like her food dirty. 😉
Some rabbits don’t have a strong urge to dig, so if she’s not into it, don’t stress about (and consider yourself lucky…[Read more]

Hello, I am new to this community and this is my first post, so I hope I am posting in the correct area! Please let me know if I am not.
I have a 5 year old female rabbit named Pancake. I got her when she was a baby and I was 19 years old. For many years I did not have the space, money, or knowledge to provide the enrichment and mental…[Read more]

It’s better to introduce each one separately. If they have had the mature versions before though, then there is no need to reintroduce anything.

Wishing you a very easy bond!

We took Louie for some speed dates at a rescue, and this sweet girl was who the owner paired us with to start. Little did we know we would be taking her home! She was part of a rabbit colony that was found out by a road, and her sister who she was paired with before unfortunately didn’t make it through surgery. She was very calm and consistently…[Read more]

If you have a farm feed store anywhere near you, it’s likely they will have alfalfa rabbit pellets. I also saw them at Walmart if you have one where you live. When you switch her pellets, start by adding in a bit of the new pellets to the current ones then increase until it’s just the new pellets. This should prevent stomach issues from swi…[Read more]

@LBJ10 Should each of the veggies in there be introduce one at a time or is it okay to give them a little bit of the mix and increase it until the bunny is used to it?

Just to give some encouragement, it’s rare for bunnies to be truly un-bondable. Two females is thought to be the hardest combo due to females being more territorial, and being new to bonding I can see how it would be very hard. I’m guessing things will go a little more easily with your next two, especially with abundant neutral territory to work…[Read more]
