I’m not sure about the mites, but if you want to open it up and look at it that should be fine. Ordering hay online can be convenient, but it is harder to be positive the condition. I buy my hay in pretty large quantities, I currently have a large bag I bought from someone who buys hay to sell and for her farm. I then keep the main box/bag in my…[Read more]

I bought some romaine lettuce and gave some to my rabbit yesterday. Today I just seen it was grown in North MX. Should I be worried?

Hey guys! I just got my box of oxbow Timothy hay in the mail. I think it’s 9 pounds? Should I dig all the way to the bottom to look at it? I’ve heard about people getting dead mice in their hay… Maybe I’m over cautious lol. I also wanna know how I should store my hay. I’ve heard you should keep the hay box/bag open for air flow, but I see peo…[Read more]

<p style=”text-align: left;”>he is still coming to me when i click through to get a treat (i think he thinks its banana) and again he ate all his critical care from last night and almost all of 2 handfuls of wet veggies. I saw him pull a couple pieces of hay to munch on. But again he just normally goes right for anything i put down which he isnt…[Read more]

But I was shortening the amount of stress time. Idk I was thinking maybe stressing just velvet and patches and then doing a session in the kitchen with the 4 while maybe petting/holding down velvet. Neither of the boys seem to really care that she is around. And neither have tried to nip her. Through a gate or during any sessions I’ve done its…[Read more]

She actually makes her own hay tea, but she won’t drink it. She would deliberately pick up the hay I give her and put it in her water dish. I think that’s just one of her little quirks 😂 The mint tea idea is great, I grow mint in my backyard and she loves it. I have been exclusively giving her filtered water just bec…[Read more]

Hi @Bladesmith 🙂 and welcome back to binky bunny! It is very nice to meet you and Senor Lump Lump 😉 who is very good-looking and is just begging to be petted! You’ll have to give him a good long stroke for me. 😉

Aw, bummer. How is he doing now? This can happen with too much stressing, so you were right to pause. I’m guessing the stress was what did it. Can you syringe feed him? You can also mix some banana into the CC to see if he will eat it that way. If he hasn’t eaten anything on his own in 12 hours you are in emergency territory and should go to the…[Read more]

Hi there! I have two rabbits, and my male who I adopted a few months ago would barely drink water when I first got him. Turns out he didn’t like tap water, so when I started giving him water that had been sitting out and refrigerated or water from our fridge, he would enjoy it and I began to notice him drinking more. Since then I have been working…[Read more]

You could for sure ask about metacam (which is a commonly used anti-inflammatory pain med, similar to ibuprofen), especially since you are seeing signs of pain.

She also might not drink very much because she isn’t a great hay eater. Hopefully with more hay she will drink more water. And putting a tiny amount of juice to get her to drink is probably OK, especially with the sludge concerns. You might also try making mint or hay tea for her.

That’s good to know. Does anyone know of anything else I can put in her water that is healthy? I put a little juice in her water again yesterday (before I found out it was bad) and she drank it all again.   Maybe I will soak some strawberries or cucumbers in it overnight so it gets the flavor without all the sugar.

So far there still isn’t any…[Read more]

@princedorian: I kno you mentioned you are in the PNW as well, not sure exactly where, because it’s a very large area, however I know there are a lot of smaller rescues in the Puget Sound area that are not as widely known as the larger shelters. I joined a Facebook group for the PNW, and I found many smaller rescues in the general area. They…[Read more]

I agree with @DanaNM, keep doing what you are doing, and they will figure out the hierarchy. I’m curious, in previous topics you have talked about bonding all four of your buns, but now you are doing two, have you decided not to go for a quad? Are you going to do two sets of two? Whichever way you choose I am sure will go great, you know your buns…[Read more]
