Rabbits are naturally curious, but also naturally cautious.
Could you somehow connect the new hutch to the old one for starters? It would allow them to explore the new place at their own leisure. You could put some stuff that has their scent on it in the new hutch. Like, you could perhaps rub a piece of fleece blanket over their furs and then put…[Read more]

How is he doing now?
The probiotic treat seems ok, as far as I can see it foesn’t contain sugar – but don’t give a lot and dont give anything else that has sugar in it (sugar is the favorite food for bad bacteria). I’d not give simethicone at this point.
It’s great that he’s been eating hay!

At night we put our bonded pair of rabbits into a pen(6ft×2ft), the pen also has a dog crate attached for them where food and such is, just to avoid mess. They also for in and out of it during the day. It was a makeshift enclosure which has held up well for years. Unfortunately the pen is due for a replacement, and we have bought an actual h…[Read more]

I wouldn’t give simethicone in this case.

It should be OK as long as it was just fur that was pulled out and not actual skin. A little redness probably isn’t anything to worry about.

thank you for the response. i did try to warm him up last night, although he was still eating hay (more than i would expect). i think his poop became a little less soft and right now he’s sleeping. the only thing i have on hand right now is a probiotic treat https://wellkeptrabbit.com/products/prebiotic-biscuits-n-jam-16831
do you think this is a…[Read more]

Your bun will definitely heal from this.
It might take a while for the hair to grow on in the spot, how quickly it fills in will depend on where in the hair growth cycle she is atm. Rabbit hair grow in cycles, not continuously like human hair.
I don’t think you have to do anything about the red skin, the redness will subside. Maybe give her a…[Read more]

So I had a child help me brush my bunny with the hair buster comb supervised but I did turn away for a moment and i found a spot on my bunny back that’s missing a lot of hair and upon closer look her skin is red and raw obviously she was brushed too hard and pulled her hair out of her skin. I’m sure it was painful and I’m not sure if she is sti…[Read more]

Soft, non-slip rugs to get a bunny from point A to point B can really help them build confidence. I’m sure your bunny is just feeling unsure.

Poor baby 🙁
I would give him time and make the flooring as soft and grippy as possible. The damage to the nervous system from EC is permanent and if he is still tilted he likely doesn’t have the same balance he used to. Puppy mats might still be a bit slippery so adding more blankets may help. Basically modify his environment so he feels as safe…[Read more]

How long ago did this happen? What is her housing set-up like? Do you always have to pick her up to take her out of her hutch? It does sound like your niece scared her, but I’m wondering if she feels more vulnerable because you always have to pick her up?

This is very likely teenage hormonal bun behavior, and “speaking bunny” should also help. One of my buns was pretty nippy when I got him (he was recently neutered at that point) but doing the loud squeak did help a lot.
What’s your bun’s housing set-up like? Sometimes buns will get territorial over a certain area (such as the couch), so you may…[Read more]

Is he able to come and go from his enclosure freely when he’s getting exercise time? Just checking because if he has to be picked up to go in and out that could be contributing. Adding some hides for him in the exercise area can also help.
It’s true that some bunnies take a very long time to warm up to their humans. I adopted a bun that had…[Read more]

Hello.
Im new here. I will try to be brief as my question is simple.
My boy was diagnosed with EC five weeks ago. Some people might be familiar how awful this illness can be. However my boy recovered for 28 days except that his head didn’t fully straighten. When he stopped rolling we put him in a bigger enclosure (from the beginning he was in a…[Read more]
