I always just lie on the floor by my bunnies wherever they’re hanging out and they ask me for pets, nuzzle me, stand in my back. Meet him where he’s comfortable and he’ll appreciate you all the more! Since you love your little one so much are you eventually getting him a friend? No pressure but buns are so happy in a bonded pair!

Aww Bonnie is absolutely adorable! I didn’t even know rabbits made noises. I hope one day Bernard will let me pet her like that. If I did that now she would definitely be giving me dirty looks for at least a few hours 🤪

So terrified right now. We got a call from one of the vets Hunny has seen, and she laid out all the possible treatment options for dental abscesses. She is also a strong supporter of surgery, but my parents are against it, mostly for the care that would be required for Hunny’s teeth the rest of her life after. Penicillin injections were mentioned,…[Read more]

I also just adopted a rabbit (his name is Baylor). He also nips at me occasionally, but can be sweet as well. Getting your bun neutered is a great idea as it reduces hormonal behavior and can help with litter training too! I agree that the pellets with other things in it besides pellets is not the healthiest choice and I recommend Oxbow Pellets.…[Read more]

I have a few questions. First, how do I keep litter box odours down? I’m using pine pellets (horse bedding) with hay piled on top. Also using cat litter boxes (one for each bunny – I have two). I come into my room and I can smell the bunny pee and when I bend down in front of the pens I smell the territorial onion poops. Do puppy pee pads at the b…[Read more]

Hi @Yahzi
I am so happy for you in finding the perfect bun! He sounds wonderful. 🙂 In regards to nipping – it is perfectly normal. And it does hurt sometimes 😆 but they do it all of the time to other buns, but to rabbits, it doesn’t hurt, for they have all of that fur to protect them. They typically nip saying ‘move out of my way, hoomin!’…[Read more]

The x pen is 4×4 ft and is 4 ft tall. I’m going to try to give him free roam time as much as possible especially during his most active hours. When I have been giving him playtime I’ve been leaving his door open and letting him come to me. Also I’ve been getting down on his level and letting him investigate me. I’ve already read the Rabbit Info se…[Read more]

Thank you so much for your reply. I’ll look into getting other pellets 😊 we only want what’s best for him. I know he is just getting used to us but does anyone know if it’s normal that he nips/bites at us? He’s come up and bit my big toe before LOL and today I was on the floor playing with him and he wanted me to pet him then he started smelling…[Read more]

We use a combination of shavings (on top) and paper litter (below). We’ve been very happy with it. The shavings seem more amenable to the rabbit, though as you’ve noted, they’re not very absorbent, which is why we use brown paper underneath.

You should definitely wash since you don’t know what chemicals are on it. I suggest washing in very light detergent if at all, on delicate cycle, and then dry. Your rabbit will thank you for it!

boisterous replied to the topic should i free roam at night? in the forum HABITATS AND TOYS 6 years ago
Our rabbit roams around cage-free in the living room, but we don’t let him into the bedroom or around anything unsupervised. In the living room, we put up a metal fence around our bookshelves at night since he’s been known to attack books when he’s bored.
