I’ve tried taking the bed away and at first she would use it a couple times but then she would designate somewhere else on the floor to go. But on her half of the room I put blankets or a large rug down because I have hardwood and she can’t walk on hardwood.
In the picture that’s her litter box, I think the blanket could be what confused her.

Is it normal to sometimes see bunnies’ caecotrophs? My 4 year old Alfredo I’ve never seen one from him (he eats them all) but my new 8 week old I’ve been seeing a few here and there… wondering if that is something concerning.

I’m going to go ahead and lock this thread. It isn’t that old but the OP was from a month ago and for some reason this keeps resurfacing. 😉

Some bunnies just can’t really have soft beds because they pee on them (my Bertha was like this). So it could be that Bernard is the same.

If you remove all the soft bedding from her pen, will she use her litter box? The pic of her sleeping is so cute. 🙂 Is that her litter box or her bed? I guess if I’m confused it makes sense that she’s…[Read more]

I’m so sorry to hear that. I hope with all that you’ve been through you parents will agree to try the surgery.

Agree with Wick, Cage aggression and defensive-ness often comes from fear (not always though! and sometimes people are well-meaning but just don’t know). I have been fostering a bunny (Bonnie) that was getting cage aggressive after being at the shelter a very long time, so I can tell you what has worked with her.

At the shelter she would box and…[Read more]

I dump my whole litter boxes every other day. I’m too lazy to spot clean lol. Since I have a cheap source of pellets and hay that’s the easiest way to go for me, and I notice there aren’t many un-soaked pellets left by the time I dump it. I add new hay to top it up in between changes as well, so there is always fresh hay on top.  When I notice…[Read more]

Maybe once a month it seems to have some build up to wipe? Not very often. I clean the litterboxes daily, so I scoop out soiled litter and replace it. I know that is a higher frequency than others, but honestly I am still curious how people can only clean the litterbox once every couple days, haha.

If it’s bar chewing, it can be helpful to cover the outside of the pen so the rabbit cannot see the other side. Typically they chew bars to try and “get out” or remove the obstacle, but if they don’t see anything on the other side, then it is not as tempting.

In terms of toys, human sleep-time overlaps with a rabbit’s natural active time (late…[Read more]

If the tooth root is overgrown it will need to be extracted. If the tooth is already rotten and infected, it will probably come out very easily. It will be important to find a vet that is experienced with rabbit dentals though.

Unfortunately I am not sure that you will be able to cure the infection without removing the tooth.

    Congrats on the new bunny!

Most bunnies don’t like being picked up, and don’t learn to like it with more handling, so it’s best to only pick up when absolutely needed for nail trims, etc.

Unneutered boys will also nip more… usually when they are getting ready to mount.

If he nips hard enough that it bothers you, you can try making a kind of…[Read more]

It was love at first sniff.  Dawn got a whiff of Loki, and she LITERALLY climbed, dug under, went around, and chewed through every barricade I put in her way to get to him.  They’ve not been apart since.

@Wick Thank you so much! Yes those poops are meant to be smelly LOL. And I’ve only had one pee incident the other day which was just a little in the corner, so I moved the litter box into that corner and I haven’t had any pee accidents since. I also wiped it up and put it in the litter box so he knows not to do that anymore. How often do you jus…[Read more]

Yes, unlimited doesn’t necessarily mean truly unlimited. The correct amount would be the maximum amount they can eat without compromising hay consumption. Wick made a good suggestion. You can take the pellets away during certain periods of the day to encourage more hay eating.

I’m not aware of any interactions. As Bam said, these two drugs are probably given together fairly often because EC can cause seizures and these drugs are both considered to be good choices.

My rabbit’s pen is in my room and it can sometimes be hard for me to sleep when he is chewing or tossing things around. Last night I removed his stacking cups because he kept throwing them at the x pen bars. If you have any tips for helping me sleep I’d be extremely grateful!

There’s not too much you can do about the onion-y smell of poops… they are mighty as they serve their purpose well, haha. That scent you smell is very mild I’m sure compared to how rabbits actually smell it– I’m sure they work really well as territory markers! Thankfully, no one is spraying pee on your walls instead, haha.

You can do a small…[Read more]
