Is there any other way to tell if he has tooth root problems other than the sneezing?

Today I took my bun to met her potential bond mate. They had a pretty successful date! She was asking to be groomed and they both seemed interested in each other. Neither had aggressive behaviors and the head of rescue said she thinks they will be a good match. I’m so happy and hoping the bonding will go fairly smooth.

I ended up putting the kittens blanket by her cage a few days. Then I let them out in the same room for short periods of time. She still gets a little upset if he comes too close to her cage but over all she’s been SO much better!!!

I live alone and the house actually feels emptier with just one rabbit.  I may need to get another rabbit to foster, for me as well.  I always had solace to know they had a each other to keep company and their personalities were so different, which was a joy.

Sounds as though he and you are both in a state of grief. 🙁 I am happy though that you are striving to be happy, for that’s all we should and need to do in these difficult times. Find the joy in every day, not the sorrow. 🙂

It could stress him out, or it could help him. Can you try fostering? That could tell you if it will be good, or…[Read more]

Tooth roots growing upward into the sinus cavity can cause chronic irritation. The first symptom is often unexplained sneezing. Tooth problems and tooth root problems can go hand-in-hand. However, tooth root problems can occur without problems with the actual teeth. Just something to keep in mind if you can’t figure out what is causing the…[Read more]

Thanks all, it was another tough day getting up extra early preparing the outside for the coming storm, then taking Ralph to see Morgan.  He plush animals in all his favorite spots (he is free roaming).   He posted himself under my bed all day, but ate some hay, a little treats, then his greens. I had to pick up and take him back to his room and s…[Read more]

Thanks! We did get a fresh bottle of Metacam and she’s been getting it every 12 hours. You’re right, I’m sure her jaw probably doesn’t feel the best after being propped open so wide for a while. Thursday and Friday I noticed that she seemed to be only chewing her hay on the right side of her mouth. Today she has been chewing some on the left side…[Read more]

Pen G injections are often the antibiotic of choice for treating abscesses and there is some evidence that it may be effective as a stand-alone treatment (i.e. no surgery). Chloramphenicol is a different antibiotic. However, it is sometimes used in antibiotic-impregnated beads for treating abscesses. It is capable of penetrating bone, which I…[Read more]

They can be sore for a few days after dental work, I would ask the vet for some pain killers and see if that helps.

They are two years old. We recently ran out of their old hay, and had to quickly buy some at Tractor Supply, but I’ve been out of town, and haven’t been able to keep a very close eye on that. I’ve never heard of chronic irritation of the sinuses. What is it? His teeth are healthy as far I know, and they have plenty or wood and cardboard to chew on.

    Hello,

Looking for some potential thoughts/advice on what to do with my 4 year old lionhead. A week ago she suddenly didn’t eat all of her pellets one day (which she always does), but was still eating her hay and acting normal. Throughout the week she seemed to progressively eat less, but was still eating her hay and got excited for her…[Read more]

He could be allergic to something like the hay. Have you tried different types of hay?

Another thought would be chronic irritation of the sinuses. How old are they? Have you considered tooth-related problems? Tooth roots growing into the sinus cavity can cause chronic sneezing.

I agree with Dface. You can use one, but I wouldn’t recommend it unless you really know what you’re doing. It wouldn’t take much to severely “over groom”.

My heart is with you. 😥 I am very happy that you have Ralph, so you both can help each other through this difficult time. Agree with @DanaNM, fostering can be good, but only when you are ready. You might not even have to do fostering at all. Whatever will make you happy is the right choice, don’t feel pressured into making a decision, and I am…[Read more]

Hi. I’m new here. I’ve had my two mini rex bunnies for a year now, and one of them, Peter, is always sneezing. He has been for the whole time I’ve had him. At first, I thought he might have snuffles, but he never got worse or better. He goes into sneezing fits, and try’s to clean his nose with his paws. His paws never really get matted, though. He…[Read more]
