Yes, this does sound like a seizure. They can present in different ways, it isn’t always just them seizing violently on the floor. As Bam said, the most common cause of seizures in rabbits is EC.

LBJ10 replied to the topic help!! rabbit has diarrhea from antiobiotics in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years, 2 months ago

If he was on Baytril before and it didn’t clear up the URI, then it’s probably best to try something else. Azithromycin is prescribed for stubborn URIs. Honestly, it was the only thing that worked with my bunny that had chronic problems. But it is one of the antibiotics known to cause more issues. Chloramphenicol is often prescribed for difficult…[Read more]

I think it will be fine. You cleaned it up as best you could, that’s about all you can do.

It isn’t unusual for poops to fluctuate in size, consistency, etc. during the recovery period. Their GI tract is out of wack and it’s trying to correct itself.

I agree, you may need to cut back on the pellets. Also, if fed together, it’s possible one bunny is eating more pellets than the other. Translation – He could be getting a lot more pellets than you realize.

She seems to just be choking in general.

1/2 cup per pair is a pretty large amount of pellets. I would cut that amount in half to start and stop all treats and see how he does.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I’ve been through this several times before and it’s so hard.

There is no need to rush into making a decision about what to do for Ginger. Keep an eye on him to make sure he’s eating enough, you may see him be more “quiet” for a while, and that’s ok. If you start to notice signs of depression then you may consider…[Read more]

This is really scary but it does sound like the teeth would be my first plan of attack. I did have a bun that had to have several molars extracted. He felt better once they were out. Is she choking on a specific food or just in general?

Stasis recovery can take a frustratingly long time. It’s been compared to “trying to jump start a train”, so patience is important. The fact that he’s excited for greens is excellent. And it’s OK that the poops are soft at this point, it’s important that he’s pooping at all. The antibiotics could have upset him a bit which is prob why the Dr…[Read more]

Hi there! I’m new to the group. I adopted a 2 year old Mini Rex named Stanley. He is recovering from GI stasis that has him in the ER for almost 5 days. He had blood work, ultra sounds and was given IV, pain meds and antibiotics. This is an excellent hospital in Boston run by the MSPCA and the doctor was an an exotic specialist. He’s been home sin…[Read more]

Yeah there are hardly any left, just some down into the carpet that won’t come out. Thanks 🙂

If you have cleaned up as much as possible, I dont think there’s enough left to harm her. Perlite is not toxic to pets.

Fertilizer balls can cause harm to children if ingested, but there must be very little left to ingest if you’ve cleaned.

i had a plant in my room that got knocked over and the potting soil spilled everywhere. i cleaned as much as i could but i have carpet so there are little pieces of perlite and possibly some of those little green beads that are in some potting mixes (i think it’s fertilizer?) if my bun eats any of it will she be okay or could this hurt her?
