Louiethebunny started the topic end of bonding q’s in the forum BONDING 6 years ago
Yay for Louie and Lola, I believe they are almost 100% bonded, as of today, both rabbits groom each other, they share food, share litter boxes, share water, share toys, and cuddle and flop near or with each other. I have started prepping the room for moving day, and before everything is final I have a few questions.
1. Should I still offer two…[Read more] -

@dove
Hmm, you have posted pics of her before? Is this something that has popped up recently not allowing you to? Adding them in your profile, clicking add media, etc? Maybe you could contact a forum leader and ask? I’m not the savviest with pic posting, but I manage somehow. Hopefully, you figure it out, for that bunny is darn cute and I can’t…[Read more]

Is there a way you could bring them inside? House buns tend to form better bonds with their owners, plus they have better conditions. It is very good though how you are closely monitoring how much water they are drinking, that is good. 🙂
If there is no way you can bring them inside, then a cooling tip is frozen water bottles, and fans…[Read more]

No binkies yet but tons of flops. I definitely will be sharing some pictures, I’ve had her for three months and I think I have over 200 pictures of her already. She’s just too cute, I can’t resist!
@DanaNM
Right? I think she already thinks she owns everything in my room 😁

6 to 8 weeks is the usual range, but 8wo is typically what we see most often.
Water bottles, while widely advertised, are actually not the best for rabbits. There have been studies that show that rabbits drink less water from a bottle than they do when given a water bowl. This is because it takes effort to drink water from the water bottle —…[Read more]

They are outside. I noticed them breathing rapidly as the day reached 90°F yesterday, so I brought them in until it cooled down in the evening. Thank you for the feedback. I’ll continue to keep them inside while the weather is hot.

Hmm, are they outside? If they are outside, they can get heat-lazy and not drink much water, if so, I would recommend bringing them inside to cool off and be overall more healthy and happy. 🙂 If they are inside, I don’t know what else it could be. Just thought I would ask that question for that was my first thought.

Another day, some more bonding! Today I did the same dog crate session, and a lot more grooming from Louie! Yay! They also sat together and cuddled but no flopping. I’m going to do more larger space sessions as well, yay for more progress!

I would have them living by each other side by side with the enclosures mirroring each other, so they can see each other while they do whatever they’re doing, then start pre bonding (cage swaps, toy swaps, etc) after at least a week. After some pre bonding, you can start regular bonding sessions. This way, they can slowly get used to being a…[Read more]

Hi there, thanks for filling out the template!
I wouldn’t start sessions just yet, since you have only had the male about 3 days. I would give him at least a week to settle in with no bonding sessions at all, or more if he seems very timid still. Then you can start doing official pre-bonding, which is usually cage or litter box swaps. I usually…[Read more]

My apologies, SIX weeks old. (Technically six and a half now.) The breeder told us that six weeks was the appropriate time to be separated. 🙁
I would mention that they are eating their hay and pellets well. They are active and curious.

DanaNM replied to the topic I feel like my bunny is unhappy and unsatisfied in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years ago
Even though it seems like you’ve had her a long time, some bunnies take a long time to open up. Forum leader Bam’s bunny Bam took about a year to decide he wanted to explore, after that was just the most amazing rabbit. And especially with the recent change in her home environment, she sounds like she’s still adjusting. Every bun really has a…[Read more]

That sounds fine to me, as long as it’s not sweetened pumpkin. I’ve used just straight canned pumpkin before in CC as well.

That’s so sweet!
Bun Jovi loves kisses and will tooth purr while getting them, but then again she pretty much loves any kind of attention as long as he’s not being picked up! He always comes back from the bunny sitter’s house with lipstick all over him LOL

Rabbits cannot be separated from their mother until they are around 8 weeks old. Are you sure your rabbits are 4 weeks old, and if so, are they still with their mother? Clarification on age is important.

I have two 4 week old Holland Lops. Though I’ve had them nearly three days, the water level in their bottle has yet to change. I’ve only seen one of them drink for a moment. I’m really worried they aren’t getting enough water. Any advice?
