They pee a lot. Pee smell I find can range, depending on how territorial the rabbit is. I also mention this because pee on hay and pee on poop (especially if the poop is pungent due to the territorial “onion” oil coating) also produces smell. A little bit of clover is fine. My bun loves the flowers 🙂 A bit of a “treat”, like clover, mixed in with the hay can make a bun more interested in eating hay. So yes, this looks like good hay for an adult bun.

Oh yes females are at least as territorial and moody as males, if not moreso.

Sure, you will have less years with her than if you got a baby bunny. But I think there is a lot of satisfaction to be gained from adopting an older pet that would be overlooked by most people. If the tumor indeed hasn’t spread then there will be no ill effects. If you like her, I’d say go for it. 🙂

Can we get a picture of this bun just to confirm your thoughts that it’s domesticated (also because bunnies are cute and I want to see what he looks like)? It’s also very hard to tell a male from a female unless there are visible testicles so it could be a girl. Rabbits are prey animals and domesticated rabbits (i.e. the ones we have as pets) have essentially “bred out” means to survive independently, so I think more so than a pet dog or cat, pet rabbits require more work daily and consistently. @hazel It’s a little hard to explain but for religious reasons. In my religion we are technically not allowed to get animals neutered..

It might be a bit far for you in NH but I take my bunny to Park Place Veterinary Hospital in Swanzey NH. They have been nothing but wonderful with Starlight and seem to know a lot about bunnies.

Back to square 1 with reduced territory slowly opening it up. If you can add a litter box (if you haven’t already) in the open area that may help as well as he may be more willing to go there than to go all the way back home. To be honest it depends more on the individual rabbit than the breed, and regardless of whether the little man is aggressive, he will definitely have better litter habits and most likely be more chill.
