ThorBunny replied to the topic Different hay brands? in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years ago
I use Small Pet Select and Thor likes it better than any other brands we’ve tried (since we started SPS she won’t eat Oxbow hay we’ve gotten occasionally when a box ran out). She really likes both the 3rd cut Timmothy and the Orchard hay. We haven’t ever tried Rabbit Hole though, I will keep that one in mind!
I second asking your local rescue as…[Read more]

<3 Thor!
That’s a good idea with putting a tunnel within a tunnel! Ideal for bunstruction! When I get extra brown packing paper I stuff it into their tunnels as well for them to excavate. 🙂

@prince dorian the bun – I have that exact same cat tunnel! We put an oxbow hay tunnel inside of it, and Thor has been having a blast digging and destroying inside of it for months now. Also, I’m super jealous of your outside space 🙂

We also have those stacking cups, they are a huge hit! Here’s an older picture of Thor’s bunny area complete…[Read more]

I thought she looked nice and plump from her pictures. 🙂 Hopefully more hay will help make her poops more regular looking.
I had a foster with cow pile syndrome/ megacolon and he was so thin and bony. It was very sad. 🙁

I think I just have a generic brand from a random drug store (like prob Equate brand?). As long as it’s baby gas drops (active ingredient simethicone) you will be good to go. And it won’t hurt him at all, even if he doesn’t need it. Some bunnies really like the taste so it’s almost a treat to them.
Encouraging some gentle movement can also help…[Read more]

Dif pen sizes work for different buns, which is why you’ll see different recommendations. Some people swear by small spaces, I tend to have better luck with larger, especially once sessions get longer. In my experience, when they have a bit more space, they can get away from each other without it turning into circling (you can imagine in a tiny…[Read more]

Peter'sOwner started the topic Walking Dandruff Advice for Rabbits Please in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years ago
I’m 90% sure my pet rabbits have walking dandruff, Cheyletiellosis but I have an appointment with my Vet for the end of next week to get them checked out for sure that the earliest appointment they had and there aren’t many vets where I live that see exotic animals.
Till then they are pretty itchy and it seems to be getting worse I’ve been…[Read more]

Great!!! I’ll try petting them when they are requesting grooming. They are so sweet together lol I worse some heavy winter gloves because I was scared they may fight. They seemed to like them though as far as petting goes. After a few tub dates I’ll move to another location. I work from home and my office would be neutral. Would you recommend the…[Read more]

@HipHopBunny Thank you! It was just for a little bit but he was doing it yesterday for a bit too. I’m gonna try to get an appointment when I can find a good vet in my area!
@DanaNM Yeah I’m not sure… He left poops there when he got up. He poops everywhere in his pen though. I give him veggies and pellets in the morning and he always eats ever…[Read more]

Hazel replied to the topic Poorly rabbit eating brick in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years ago
Can you keep her inside? She shouldn’t be ingesting pieces of brick, concrete or coal. If it didn’t cause her health issues, if certainly will make things worse.
I agree with Dana, I would get a second opinion, a knowledgeable vet wouldn’t immediately recommend putting her to sleep without further testing.

Ok that makes me feel better. I knew it was probably just me being too paranoid.

Well, we are back from our trip, and all the buns are fully vaccinated (YAY), so I can finally work on bonding these gremlins!
Good thing too, because they are starting to get antsy!
I think my plan is to spend the next week or so doing some introductions with just Myra and Bonnie, since I think they will be the most trouble.
I will introduce…[Read more]

Megacolon is pretty rare, even with the gene that is linked to it, but it’s good to be aware of. Since Bernard’s diet has kind of been all over the place, my suspicion is that her weird poops are most likely related to that. I can’t tell the size from your pic, but the megacolon poops are also HUGE, like they remind me of an easter egg candy. To…[Read more]
