Her whiskers an eyelashes are totally adorable.

Yeah. I can’t imagine looking at her face and thinking another name. She’s been at the rescue for about 4 months and I’ve been following them the whole time she’s been there.

I know what you mean, my most recent three buns kept their shelter names because they just had them so long and they suited them. Doesn’t stop me from giving them nicknames though!

Okie dokie! Her box habits have improved a ton since her spay the rescue said. Only a bit of poops out of the box. I of course don’t expect her to be perfect at first.

What types of spaces do you have available to marathon? I def think you should at least do an overnight or two in the neutral space you’ve been working in before you move them to their permanent home. Maybe you could get a piece of scrap linoleum as the flooring?

Took the plunge and started marathoning them about an hour and a half ago! I have set up a large area (2 xpens linked up) in my friend’s garage, lined with pee pads and a bunch of hay.

I’m very sorry for your loss. 🙁 Some of his behavior might be grieving, so keep that in mind. I have heard stories of cases like yours where the more human-focused bun passes, and the other bun actually ends up bonding more closely with the human since the other bun is gone.

By all accounts rabbits should be pretty gross little creatures (eating poop, drinking pee, sleeping in their litter boxes, eating while they poop), but somehow they aren’t at all! LOL

Can you post a picture of her poops?  When you break them open, do they have lots of chewed up hay inside?

I would be inclined to slowly reintroduce certain greens and see if that helps (while still having high hay intake), rather than increasing pellets. Fur is really what helps buns stay warm, extra body fat just puts extra strain on their…[Read more]
