It is actually not very hard to take a bun’s temperature. It is of course easier if someone can help you hold the rabbit. It seems like a bit of Here is a good video on how to do it:Β https://youtu.be/YZd10Hk0maA
Normal temp is 100.5 to 103.5 F. When a bun gets gut stasis, its temperature tends to drop. Warming up is essential to keep the bun…[Read more]

For doing tricks, you’ll want to start with clicker training, rather than leash training. π There are lots of resources on youtube etc. to help get started with it!

Hi ALRyder π
Walking rabbits on leashes is generally not a good thing to do. For, rabbits do not like being in them and are going to try to escape from them, in which the result could end up harming your bun. π It is a very good question to ask, shows that you are really thinking about the option. π Since I’m a protective rabbit mom, if I…[Read more]

I’m just curious if anyone has tried walking their rabbit on a leash, and if so, if they have any tips for starting out. Even ideas on the best type of harness and such. We have a padded harness I think might work that we use for our small cat, and is made for ferrets as well.
Kind of a branch off from this, but we have a young indoor rabbit, and…[Read more]

It sounds like you are making good progress! I would say just keep it up and start increasing the session length. See if you can slowly start to be a more hands-off as well. It would be good to see if the nips resolve on their own, which is a good sign and part of the process.
I do hate the face-nipping though, I’m dealing with some of that with…[Read more]

A couple things, I have been in your exact situation (it SUCKS, I’m sorry you are going through it) and it’s important to keep him stable until you can get to the vet.
Can you take his temp? If his temp is low, keeping him warm is essential. The link that Bam shared has more info on this. Also keep up the tummy rubs.
Can you syringe feed him?…[Read more]

Thank you for this advice on the pellets. I’ve been back and forth on what to do about the pellets. He’s been getting unlimited grass hay with a mix of alfalfa, and we made some paper towel roll toys stuffed with alfalfa (which he usually finishes by the end of the day). He gets his greens in the morning with a handful of pellets, and the…[Read more]

LOL! π If that’s the case, then I’ll tell them, the real way to win Smokey’s heart, is to rescue her from that pesty hoomin who keeps trying to get a snuggle out of her! π
I managed another picture! π Same spot seems to be a favorite of theirs. For some reason, they like to kick the mats away from this area too. The ground cooler?…[Read more]

The pee pads are a life saver!!!! The hay has been good too. I havenβt tried water yet. But will this week. Their sessions have been around a hour (sometimes a little over). The girl has groomed the male for a few seconds today but there is still some face nipping from the male. Iβve been petting them both as soon as it starts which helps. Is the…[Read more]

Hi! Thank you for rescuing this rabbit! He is adorable!
With baby buns (under 6 months), the House Rabbit Society still recommendes unlimited pellets and alfalfa hay as well as grass hay. They set the appropriate age for intro of greens to 12 weeks.Β Unlimited pellets can be a bit too much for some baby buns to handle, meaning they’ll gorge…[Read more]

ALRyder replied to the topic Can anyone recommend if any of these products are a suitable replacement for hay in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 12 months ago
I recently rescued a bunny and have been doing a bunch of research on different foods and such, because I’ve forgotten a lot of it over the years of not having a bunny. Anyway, one of my original questions was on what the difference was in feeding my rabbit different types of hay.
From everything I could find, basically, Timothy Hay is the type…[Read more]

Hello Ester and very welcome! She has blue eyes!
How lovely that she wants you to pet her 😀 If she makes little smacking noises, like she is eating something, when you pet her, she could be building up to lick your skin. Its a grooming behavior that rabbits do when they like someone, as I’m sure you know. They may start by licking things in the…[Read more]
