LBJ10 replied to the topic Chronic Sneezing for over a year in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 11 months ago

Has the vet done x-rays? Tooth root problems can cause chronic sneezing. The irritation of the sinuses causes mucus to build up, which leads to sneezing with or without discharge. The constant “stuffiness” is a breeding ground for bacterial, so secondary bacterial infections can occur. Eventually, the problem can spread to the eyes and ears.

Thanks guys! I had bunnies as a kid and I just decided I needed them back in my life. My bunny Jim died from a brain aneurysm after only a few months of having him and now I am so paranoid with Mabel, everytime I turn around I worry so much, I don’t think I could handle another sudden death

I agree, she will likely be fine. The concern with wax melts, candles, diffusers, incense, etc. is (as Bam said) the essential oils. A one-time exposure isn’t going to hurt anything. The concern is long-term, repeated exposures.

Have you had his teeth checked? And when I say checked, really checked so the vet can clearly see the molars. Dental problems can cause soft poop, pawing at the face, and difficulty drinking. It might explain the chronic “dirty crotch”, as your vet called it.

I would think if the area wasn’t kept clean (by him grooming) and him having to…[Read more]

    Hi guys!

My girl had a 6 hour period of not eating or pooping on the weekend that’s been on and off since but today has been good. The soonest appointment we could get was Wednesday but my mom has a work thing so we’re dropping her off at the girl who runs the rescues house so she can take her (we’re still fostering). The ride will be about…[Read more]

I just get horse hay from a farm and my girl likes it a lot. You mentioned that you don’t want to get a 10 pound box? Is it space constraints or shipping costs? If it’s space I think you can get farm hay by the flake as well but not too sure. Buying farm hay is good because you can tell the quality before you buy it and because you safe quite a b…[Read more]

So you have basically just started! So honestly your bond sounds like it will probably be pretty easy if they started grooming and cuddling that quickly.

I would maybe pause and do a bit more pre-bonding (maybe a week or two). Letting him get really used to her scent through the cage swaps might make her less exciting when they are actually…[Read more]

    Spay/Neuter

    yes

If so, for how long (for each)?

4 months for me female (she didn’t have any hormones though because she is a hermaphrodite)

    If not, why not?

Thanks DanaNM! 🙂 I forgot to add that Pinky groomed his own face during the session and layed down on his belly.

I actually timed the session wrong, it was 20 minutes. Oops! It still went well, though. 😀

I did a full side swap last night and they are NOT happy about it. Which makes me think it was the right move LOL.

So now we’ll see how long it takes them to chill out! Had to watch pretty closely because BJ and Myra were trying to nip Bonnie through the fence, and then turned on each other, but settled down after a bit.

Oh Baylor! What a cute little rascal though. I do feel your pain… Dorian recently decided the deck slats are super tasty. I am not sure what to do there, I have a rug, but I can’t get one big enough for the whole deck so it’s sadly now just deck time if heavily supervised, also rent so sort of not sure how to fix that (they are starting to decay…[Read more]
