He is a Holland Lop and should only get to 3.5 lbs max. He has been trying to excape the walls I built with cardboard boxes.

I am looking into getting a couple extra X-pens to section of a big space of our basement for me to let him out of the smaller space so he can run more. So I am looking at getting it very soon.

    I think I will just go…[Read more]

It might be a good idea to get one with a door in front and on top. You can do what you’re going to try to do and train them to go in, but the top door can be easier to use in the event of an emergency where you need to get a sick and uncooperative rabbit to the vet or something.

Yeah that totally makes sense, I think that is what is going on here as well that this didn’t come out fully until the other happened. In july he had some sneezing/conjunctivitus which Amoxicillian liquid form was prescribed for Milo, he took two rounds and that seemed to clear it up for the most part. His left eye would still have some light…[Read more]

It really does depend on the bun. Some people can get away with a 2 foot high pen, while others have to cover their 4 foot pen to be safe. My girl is perfectly fine with a 42 inch pen, but I feel like we’d be able to pull off a 3 foot pen with no issues. It comes down to many factors including, age, breed, size, energy levels and even if there’s…[Read more]

I believe it is. Also, if he has been eating/chewing them for a while and they haven’t caused ill effects, that can serve as good evidence that it’s probably OK too. I feel like if it was toxic, you might have seen ill-effects by now? Though I’m not a vet nor know how much your rabbit eats upon chewing.

Definitely stay in the realm of those that…[Read more]

I am working on setting up a running area for Buddy (he is a 10 week old Holland Lop). I have seen somethings about rabbits ability to jump 4 feet or higher. Is this something I actually need to be worried about? Will Buddy really be able and try to jump over a 3′ high X-pen wall when he is full grown? Thanks in advanced! πŸ™‚

    Hi guys,

I noticed today while my Hazel was flopped that there was some fur missing on one of her hocks. I picked her up to check it out and saw that both of her hocks have a little round patch of fur missing right at her β€œheels”. The skin looks fine – maybe a little pink, but it’s not ulcered or bleeding or anything like that.

    Im very upset…[Read more]

Hehe I agree Dana. Sometimes I forget my parents aren’t bunny crazy like me and I have to watch what I say about poop lol. Honestly, bunnies have the best kind of poop of all animals. Its not sticky or stinky πŸ˜† .

As long as the buns do well with the Roomba I think that’s a great idea.Β  We had one a few years ago and it was great for our…[Read more]

    Hey guys!

A local rabbit rescue has these great looking dried herb mixes/hay toppers on their shop but I just wanted to check if everything in them is safe. The rescue is great, and I would assume all their ingredients are safe for the buns, but I’m a big time worry-wort so I just wanted to double check if the following herbs/flowers are…[Read more]

If you add the picture to your profile, you should be able to insert it into the post (sorry, the forum is still being worked on and photos aren’t working for everyone).

What you describe sounds like it might be some uneaten cecotropes. It’s normal for babies to not eat them all.

It is funny… bunny folks tend to realize that bunny poop isn’t gross at all, but I do forget that not everyone feels that way! Maybe he needs some immersion therapy where he has to smash some with his fingers to see that they are just chewed up grass and not smelly or gross? I’m only half kidding!

While on the topic of poop…

I read somewhere that bunny poops should always be consistent in size. Since we got our 8 week old bunny (a week ago) he has been eating well, drinking, pooping and peeing a ton, and very playful . His poops mostly seem very healthy and normal in color, consistency, and frequency but the pellets are not always the…[Read more]
