Not necessarily. The difficulty with urination can “come and go” with a UTI. I also wonder since he already has arthritis if perhaps he is having pain in his hips/pelvis.

Hmm… I’m wondering if the scary encounter is just coincidental. I agree, he needs to see a vet because this is not normal. There are many different possible causes.

Rabbits do a very good job cleaning themselves, so if you’re providing a clean environment that will not maintain the dirtiness, he should be able to clean it off slowly over time, or new, clean fur will grow in! My second rabbit also came to me with very dirty feet and cleaning them myself were not an option due to her anxiety of people, but now…[Read more]

Hi guys! My parents finally agreed to getting a pet so after doing lots of research, we settled on getting a rabbit. So a few days ago, I brought home a 2 month old dutch rabbit and named him Timmy. I have a big doggy playpen set up for him in an extra room, and I hope to let him free roam once I bunny-proof the room. He’s the sweetest little…[Read more]

@prince I’ve had hammocks for bunnies since my first bunny in 2008. He loved laying in my shirt like a hammock so I got the idea. I had ferrets at the time so I sewed together a tent type hammock for Pacey and made sure it was stable (as in if he jumped out it didn’t fling it stayed stationary) and it was by far his favorite thing in the world.

I’m sure she will start exploring soon, she just needs some time. 🙂 As far as the setup goes, could you post some pictures?

I agree with Dana, sounds like he might have gotten injured. It’s easy to accidentally step on a bunny, even more so for a child. Could the kid have possibly dropped him?
He needs to be seen by a vet.

They do get obsessed over their “projects”!
It’s also not uncommon for there to be an uptick in marking in newly bonded pairs, that should go down once they settle in. I’ve seen it described as them defending their new turf from any unwanted newcomers.

It’s quite common for rabbits to get an idea in their head and start obsessing. I don’t know why. Maybe its that determination that enables them to build their extensive, multi-level warrens in the wild. They start digging in one spot and dont stop until they’re done 😃

Thanks guys! Interesting to know you had the same issue. Bunnies can be weird lol. I blocked it off! 🙂 I hope they don’t start peeing in front of that spot now lol.

That does not sound normal, he needs to be seen by a vet. Is he pooping normally?
He sounds like he could be in pain and/or quite sick. Could the 6 year old have injured him? Being covered by urine is not normal, even if he was frightened. He is also very young, so is even more fragile.

Hi! So I have two ~6-week old bunnies (brothers). Yesterday, we found our brown bunny hiding under the sofa, all soaked with his urine. He might have been scared by our six-year-old. Mom decided to wash him pretty thoroughly (it took some time to dry him). Since then, he hasn’t acted scared, but he simply isn’t active at all. He just sits in a…[Read more]

Oh she looks too cute in there! Total snuggle bun!!
I never thought about buns liking hammocks, now I am wondering if Doria would. He does chew pillows, though more just little holes so it might work.

I agree with HipHop! I volunteer at a rescue, and we recommend 50 sq ft of exericise space, and you are only a tiny bit under that (plus your buns are pretty small), so I would say given the tough situation you are doing great. Adorable bunnies btw. 🙂
I think having 11 ft to run in one direction is really nice, so they can get up to full speed…[Read more]

I had this same issue with a previous pair, Bertha and Moose. I even tried an extra box… then they would pee next to it!
What finally worked was I cleaned the area with Nature’s Miracle Carpet shampoo and an oxygen-based cleaner (I blocked the area while it was drying). I realized the vinegar smell was building up in the area so I think they…[Read more]

I’d try blocking it off. It may put a stop to their obsession with the spot. I blocked off the sofa when my bun was obsessing about going up there to pee. When I unblocked itafter a few weeks, it was like he had forgotten all about it. At first he did try try to break through the blockage though, it took him a day or two to realize that it wasn’t…[Read more]
