I don’t have much to add on to what Bam said, I just wanted to say I’m very sorry for the loss of your sweet Buddy. <3 It does sound like something quite serious was going on, it is so unfortunate you had to deal with such poor treatment on top of having a very sick bunny.
There are a lot of cases of upper respiratory infections that come on this…[Read more]

I was looking in the thread “Soft Dark Poop” and thought that the poops in question looked a lot like Silver’s! 😆 So, not wanting to take over the thread I decided to start my own! 😉
Here are some pictures of Silver’s poops, I have always thought that they were a nice healthy color shade, shape, and size, but seeing the concern expressed in…[Read more]

I am so sorry you lost Buddy. It does sound like an absolute nightmare. When a bun develops nystagmus and other neurological signs, the first things a vet should suspect are a middle ear infection or e cuniculi. I’m so sorry the ER clinic treated you the way they did.
I’m very sorry your new bun isnt well. He will need antibiotics for this,…[Read more]

I think if you just hang one on the border between them that should work? You’ll have to see if they dig at it or chew it. With mine I was able to clip it to the outside of the fence so they weren’t able to chew at it or lift it up easily.

@DanaNM okay thank you! Do I put a blanket up on both of the pens 24/7?

When I used hardware cloth I would use pliers to bend the edges in so they weren’t sharp. It was pretty time consuming and fiddly (which is why I was so excited about the “nose guards” LOL).
The hardware cloth roll I got was actually the same width as my x-pen was high, so I just used the whole roll to line the x-pen. Then I only had to worry…[Read more]

It might help to hang up a towel or a blanket for now. Sometimes it can be a bit too much for them to see each other right away. Hanging up a towel can help them get used to scents first, then you can gradually bring down the barrier.
If they are constantly trying to “get at” each other, they might do better with the buffer of 6-8 inches between…[Read more]

Bun Jovi will thump when he zooms around too! I always interpret it as him letting us all know that he is in charge. LOL

It’s been years since written in this forum, but I have looked at posts. Right now I am quite upset and this may be a bit long. We lost our 6 1/2 year old bunny Buddy on Labor Day weekend. Buddy had been prone to GI Stasis and we nursed him through multiple bouts. We thought he was starting another bought of stasis and called vet. She prescribed…[Read more]

Bun Jovi will poop in his sleep too, if I knew how to help with that I would tell you! I usually just pick them up and throw them in the box twice a day. It doesn’t really bother me since it helps me make sure his poops look good (with a bonded pair it can be hard to tell).
It almost looks like they have extra cecal material mixed in, maybe even…[Read more]

An ER vet may be able to prescribe pain meds, even if they aren’t rabbit specialists. Metacam is the most common pain med for rabbits.
I’m glad he is eating and pooping ok. Hoping you can get him in to the vet first thing tomorrow. Often rabbit vets will make time in their schedule for serious illness, so if you call around and they say they…[Read more]

I’m pretty sure that all of the light ones are Muffin and all of the really dark ones are Pinky. The cardboard photo is older, but I was trying to compare it to my thumb nail which doesn’t really work because I have very small hands… Maybe I’ll use a quarter next time.

Young rabbits can sometimes thump out of some type of lust for life. It’s like they are playing out their whole repertoire of expression. So thumping doesn’t have to mean the rabbit is scared, much like a binky doesnt have to mean the rabbit is happy. Like so many of rabbit behaviors, it needs to be interpreted in context.
Some rabbits also…[Read more]

I’ll see if I can upload some pics. I’m not sure if he’s too lazy or can’t control it. I’ll just see him sleeping and suddenly there’s a pile of poops behind his butt. Muffin’s poops have almost all been normal, just change from dark and light depending on the type of hay I feed them. His are pretty much all the same size and shape though, norma…[Read more]

Do you think you could include some pictures? When you say he poops in his sleep do you mean he can’t control it, or he’s to lazy to get up and go to the box? Does he have any normal poops or are they all like that? Has Muffin ever had any of these poops or are his poops normal? If Muffin’s poops are normal I wouldn’t think anything diet related…[Read more]

Blaze doesn’t seem to be doing much when she nips him, just runs away then comes running back. I’m betting on same day for our bonds lol 😉 .
I definitely won’t do any full on cage swapping yet, but maybe if I gave Blaze’s somewhat dirty box to Esther and gave him her cleaned out box, that could start working on Esther’s end.
I’l…[Read more]

Pinky has always had poop that was dark and softer than Muffin’s. But it seems to be getting more soft and wet?
He poops in his sleep and his fave sleeping spot is right beside the litter box. So I’ve been having to clean up piles of poop everyday and putting them in the litter box. He still doesn’t seem to learn. They also pee in different spots…[Read more]

So new bun Blaze got some out time today and is zooming and binkying around like a mad fool. The thing that I’m curious about though is that he thumps as he zooms! What does that mean?

I think lil Blaze can only reach barely a little more than a foot, but I think Esther could possibly reach a little less than 2 feet. I was thinking about covering it with something, but im not sure what, because Esther does like to chew
