Thanks guys, you really helped me feel a lot better! Sorry I never responded, I was having weird wifi problems.
Something awesome happened today! While I was downstairs preparing their salads for the next couple days, Esther managed to get past the barrier and the blankets, and got to Blaze’s pen (not inside). I’m not sure if there was any nip…[Read more]

I too would guess that this is about her hitting puberty. It will be difficult to fully litter train her until she is spayed. Her new hormones are urging her to mark her territory and make her presence known to all the other buns in the vicinity, even though they are pretty much non-existent 😬
While this is very inconvenient, it is at least…[Read more]

prince dorian the bun replied to the topic Spring mix? How to introduce? in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 10 months ago
I do 100% spring mix when I am busier as it gives a mix with out me having to prep anything or forage. I think they a great easy way to get variety of greens and sometimes they have herbs too. Dorian doesn’t like spinach so he picks those out, sometimes tosses them out of his bowl, so my biggest issue there is a little mess. Still as LBJ10 said…[Read more]

I agree with Bam. Also, the poop with the long tail looks like it may have hair in it.

Spring mix is fine, but you’ll want to check the ingredients. If it contains things your bunny hasn’t had before, then you will want to introduce it slowly to make sure everything agrees with them. Baby spinach can be found in some mixes, as shasbun pointed out. If it’s just a couple of leaves mixed in, then it isn’t a big deal for them to have it…[Read more]

Yeah, it sounds like something is going on every now and then. You can try cutting out the fruit to see if that puts a stop to it. If it continues, you might need to look into this further.

These things happen. Obviously, it’s better if a callous doesn’t form, but I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Just keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t start to become irritated. Sometimes people put bag balm or a similar ointment on the callous to soothe the area and keep it from cracking.

I do think if your vet is the most experienced one in the region and they don’t think it’s wise, then it’s best to go with their opinion on it. But I will get some numbers from the rescue and our vet and get back to you.
I mentioned blood work because it might be a good idea to do regular blood work with her to detect any irregularities. Rabbit’s…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Need help bonding my bunnies in the forum BONDING 5 years, 10 months ago
Have you done any pre-bonding (side swaps)?
There are a number of things to you can try with bunnies that fight right away. I think to start I would do a few (more?) weeks of pre-bonding, where you swap which bunny is on each side every day or two.
In sessions, it is common for the bunnies to try to fight. Your job is to prevent the fights, so…[Read more]

I am a proud bunny mama to two beautiful rabbits, Randall (neutered male, 1 year) and Rebecca (spayed female 8 months). I adopted Randall several months before deciding to adopt another bunny. I let them smell each other through the bars of their cage for 1 week before introducing them without a barrier. I put both bunnies in a playpen in a…[Read more]

She won’t let me look closer, I had to zoom up on my camera. It’s pink so I thought that means it’s open or at least rubbed raw? Or maybe that’s just her skin color. So if it’s just a callous that’s normal, right?

Thank you all so much for your prompt responses! When I say that the vet is the highest rated in my area I mean that they have 4.5 stars and the other three vets are rated as either a 3.5 or 2 star with many allegations of animal mistreatment, neglect, and overcharging. I know in most cases spaying a rabbit is best for their health, but it would…[Read more]

Hmm… I think a bunny would actually be a good companion for you while you’re doing virtual classes. I guess the real question is, do you have a plan for when you go back to in-person classes or when you graduate. A bunny is a long-term commitment, so you would need to have a plan in place. Otherwise, I don’t really see why you couldn’t get a…[Read more]

Hi everyone, Bernard was laying with her feet out and I noticed a sore spot on her foot. Is it sore hocks? I don’t know how she got it, she doesn’t have a cage but I use a rug (pictured above) and blankets wherever she will be. She never walks on my hardwood floor.
Any advice would be appreciated 😊-Marissa

You should not separate them since they are now bonded. It could disrupt the bond, and the marking would probably start again once she was there.
I’m thinking all the marking is due to them being a very new bond. Usually things settle down with time… Are you 100% sure they are fully bonded?
I wonder if you could clean the area super well with…[Read more]
