Thanks, I’ll confine them tomorrow and sit close to them to see if I can figure out when they are peeing outside the box.

I would try confining them to their pen for a few days and see if that helps.

You might also try to see when they pee outside the box. Some bunnies cannot have access to any hay outside their box or they will just pee/poop where they are.  Or maybe they pee after cleaning to try to remark the area as theirs?

We have had them for about a month now. The pen floor is a piece of linoleum with some texture to help prevent slipping. It makes the pee easy to clean as well.

We did restrict their freedom quite a bit the first 2 weeks, which proved quite challenging as my house is an open floor plan and Edamame is a curious explorer who will go…[Read more]

How long have you had them home? Sometimes bunnies take a while to get organized, and it’s common for them to mark a lot at first in a new territory (but that’s great they seem to only be going in their pen). It can help to restrict their space a bit at first, and experiment a bit with litter box placement to see if they prefer one area over…[Read more]

    Hello,

My family recently adopted a bonded pair of bunnies from a shelter, Soba & Edamame, both estimated to be 10-12 months old. It’s a female/male pair and both are spayed/neutered. The shelter did tell us they both had great litterbox habits when we were meeting the bunnies. Since getting home with them their litterbox habits have become…[Read more]

It looks more like hay dust staining. If there is an increase in nasal discharge or sneezing, I would be more concerned, but this looks within normal limits to me!

While Timothy was sleeping on my lap, I realized that his nose was a little yellowish. Did some research and I’m worried if it might be pasteurella infection, or if it’s just staining from his food.

His nose has not been runny or wet, but when he sleeps, I do hear some small whistle sounds. I thought it was just him snoring, unless he does have…[Read more]

It looks like it might be fur loss or perhaps something is growing there? Can you describe in detail what you see and how it feels?

Also, this rabbit looks very young. Do you know how old it is?

OMG how wonderful! Not only did you give him a lovely home but a lovely bun-wife! <3 <3 <3

And LOL Bun Jovi honks SO much, and he sleeps like that too! Where it looks like he just melts to the side.

It very well could have been the cat smell, especially since he is so new in the house. We had a similar thing happen with Myra a few months ago. I left our cat bed near the entrance of their condo because I was moving things around and forgot to put it back, and she was SO spooked at everything . Moved the bed, and she was back to normal. It was…[Read more]

Man that is so stressful. I had a foster that had some horrible gas mucous stasis problems and it was so stressful for all of us. So she is pooping OK but not eating on her own? Are her poops normal aside from the mucous?

Is there a timing you notice with the gas? Like a certain amount of time after eating or a certain time of day?

    Has the vet…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic UPDATE, please read: Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Outbreak in North America in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 10 months ago

It hasn’t been documented in NC yet, so at this time no. But it will likely spread throughout the US, so it’s something to pay attention to. Hopefully in the next year the vaccine will become more easily available from your vet. Currently vets can only get approval to import the vaccine if there is a documented case in your state.

My rabbit had the exact thing happen to him before too! What I’m thinking, and this did seem what the problem was for my rabbit, was that Pinky’s GI tract might be a little off-balance. My rabbit is on probiotics right now, and it seems to be helping him a lot. Of course, at this stage that Pinky’s at, it doesn’t seem to be serious enough that he…[Read more]

Lot’s of rabbits run in circles in anticipation of pellets, whether there is one, two or more. It could be that they are both just running in circles and they are forming a line instead of doing it independently. Like double the bunnies, double the excitement.
