Here’s maybe a better photo. I’m not holding him down! I know it looks like it lol. He was just tired and I pet him and lifted up his cheek gently.

Pinky was eating his cecotropes and when he got up this was left behind. Some kind of stringy mucus poop? It’s not hair. I was going to take him to the vet with Muffin anyway. But I can’t call to make an appointment until tomorrow because they’re closed on weekends.

I also feel like he’s been eating his cecotropes too often today. But he norm…[Read more]

Not sure if you guys remember my older post about the redness and scabs around Muffin’s mouth. The vet said it’s probably dermatitis and gave us medicine and cream and it cleared it up. Although I couldn’t really apply the cream because he ran away when I tried touching his mouth (you have to rub it in for it to work and not upset their stoma…[Read more]

Hello! I’m currently in the middle of a marathon bond. My question is what happens once they are bonded? How do I let them out to play? I want them to be able to go wherever they want in the house as they are always happier when they can play whenever they want.

My male bun, Nova, was our first bunny and he had free roam of the house pretty much…[Read more]

Agreed, you should wait until a month post his neuter to let his hormones level out. Also, as HipHop said, doing a couple of weeks of prebonding is an important step and should not be skipped.

You should definitely wait until his hormones are leveled out before you start bonding sessions. Trying to bond hormonal rabbits will only lead to fighting. You should do a couple of weeks of prebonding (swapping things like litterboxes around between their pens) anyway before their first face to face meeting. 🙂

Hazel replied to the topic Help: My Bunny is Peeing on My Bed. in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 10 months ago

How long has it been since her spay? Their hormones can be out of whack for a month or two after the surgery.

Lots of rabbits seem to enjoy peeing/pooping on soft surfaces, especially if they smell like their human. So beds and couches are prime targets. You can try to keep her off for a while and see if that breaks the habit, but often they just…[Read more]

Thank you Wick. Our vet specialises in rabbits and she mentioned it looked bruised.

I suspected a uti at the beginning of Oct but they were unsure but are treating it as such now in case that is what has caused this.

She thinks it might be bruised by him tugging on it in discomfort.

I will keep pursuing and see if I can find a second opinion.…[Read more]

I am not someone who is familiar with what a normative rabbit penis looks like nor how it compares sensitivity wise to a human male’s penis, but that reddening does not seem normal, as per the vet mentioning it’s bruised. I can imagine that for a male rabbit, having damage to the penis would absolutely cause irregular urination, pain upon…[Read more]

Sadly the vet is still stumped.

he is now on 1.2ml baytril and 0.8ml metacam twice daily.

We noticed a small red spot on his penis when cleaning urine from his tail and the vet exposed his penis and said it look bruised.

Here are some pictures but I am not sure if this is normal especially the red blood vessels. If wiped gently with a moist…[Read more]

I’m very sorry. As Bam mentioned, you acted quickly and followed the recommendations given. Not all rabbits can be saved, and it can be difficult not to feel guilt when you’re there to see it happen. You clearly cared so much for your rabbits, and now they are binky-ing freely elsewhere.

@LBJ10 I haven’t checked them. What would it look like clogged? Should I clean it? Thank you.

I’ve also made a thread about him having mushy poop. Or they could be cecotropes? Diet change seems to help a bit with that but I don’t know if it’s related to the liquid dripping out.

    I am so very sorry.

Don’t blame yourself. He was very ill. You got him vet care right when he first presented with hind end weakness, and you followed the advice your vet gave you. It is very difficult when you don’t have a rabbit savvy vet, but even with the best vet care,  not all rabbits can be saved.

It is very sad that you lost two rabbits…[Read more]

We immediately rushed to the vet when we heard he is grinding his teeth , we tried many ways to feed him , but he didn’t take anything.  He breathed his last at the vet , it was our 3rd visit to vet yesterday. From my first visit I’m continuously begging them to do something as he hasn’t eaten from last 10 hours , they simply said it coz of…[Read more]

    Spay/Neuter
Are your bunnies spayed/neutered? Yes, Calliope was spayed in June, and Theo was neutered in September.

    Housing
Please describe your bunnies’ current housing set-up (living together, as neighbors, etc.). They currently live in my room together. Right now I have them separated so Theo is in my closet and Calliope is in the rest of the…[Read more]

Agree with all above! Neutering is very safe if you find a rabbit savvy vet, and is definitely needed for bonding.

Ideally for finding a good match, you would get him neutered first and let hormones settle down. Then if possible you might take him for “speed dating” at a local rescue. Male-female pairings are most common but male-male pairs are…[Read more]

There is a bonding template pinned in this section. If you could fill it out and paste in your reply that would be really helpful!

I will say that I have had similar situations and experimenting with the space seems to help. So trying either larger or smaller areas, and a brand new neutral zone can help.

Can you fill out the bonding template to give us a bit more info?  Did you thoroughly check for injuries? Sometimes bites can be hidden by all the fluff.

Are you able to supervise them 24/7 for a few days in a neutral space (or maybe a pen outside their main area) to make sure things are OK?
