In this context, dental problems would actually be beneath the gum, so you wouldn’t be able to see it. What can happen is the root of the tooth (the part inside the gum) starts growing further into the gum, and due to the proximity of the mouth to eyes, the root of a tooth can actually start growing towards the backside of the eyeball, irritating…[Read more]

But her teeth look great and she’s happy. Her eye def is not red I think that’s from the flash. What should I be looking for?

Unfortunately the movie file is just black for me.

There is a condition called “splay leg”. This website gives some directions on making a brace that could potentially help, if this is the case: http://www.bio.miami.edu/hare/splayleg.html

Here is some pictures of rabbits with splay leg and an overview of the…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Worm Medication: did it make anyone else’s bunny lose their litter habits? in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 8 months ago

It does align well with normal puberty, where a rabbit’s hormones that drive territorial and mating instincts start becoming active! It may be frustrating, but it is a natural process all rabbits go through, and the fluctuation of litter habits is common. Following a spay, it’ll be easier to reinstate those litter habits. Until then, you may need…[Read more]

The timing with her age makes me think it is more likely to be puberty, unfortunately!

That sounds like a good setup. They will likely be a bit crazy at first. You can try hanging some towels or blankets between them to block their view of each other at first as well.

All the poops she left on my bed last night Her bunny jail for the day Hey all! So I found out about a week ago my poor bun has pinworms ( vet said she’s totally fine ) so I’ve been giving her the medication that was prescribed to us,  fenbendazole, she’s been taking it for 5 days, last night was her final dose. But in the last 3 days she’s been acting completely crazy, she has been peeing and pooping all over my…[Read more]

On the first pic its red,on the other it’s fine.

For a simple eye infection you can use fucidine (fucithalmic) eye drops. In some areas they are other,in other places they are prescription only.

If the tearduct is blocked, it might need flushing by a vet, if you have tried the lukewarm chamomile teabag-compress several times and it hasnt…[Read more]

I am thinking I will have to divide the pen they usually live in into two.  They get the entire 10×12 breakfast nook to themselves.  The whole thing is surrounded by those square wire racks you can assemble into cube shelves.  I may be able to make a double divider out of more of those so that there is a gap between them and let the boys live on…[Read more]

They are known to mate through fences, so make sure you separate them with double barriers and a few inches in-between.

IMG_5380Hi there, I have a bunny here who was the smaller of 13 kits – he is about 13 weeks old and as he grows (slowly) his hind legs are off to a side, he walks a lot and stretches his back out a lot, he is happy , eats and toilets fines and cleans himself ok. He is a flemish giant. My question is- is there a known congenital disease in this…[Read more]

Considering the poopy butt and ear/eye issues, teeth would be my first guess too. I would start there before exploring other possibilities.

Not yet, it just looks like a callus in the picture. You could put some ointment on it to keep it soft. Bag balm, for example, is safe for rabbits.

Willowsanimalworld replied to the topic Could digging mats cause sore hocks? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 8 months ago

No, it is only a problem if your rabbit is digging with their back feet, with is very unlikely, but if your rabbit IS digging with their back feet then I would suggest taking out the mat that he is digging on. but if it is just the front feet he/she is digging with, you should be fine! My rabbit has dug at his seagrass mat for about 6 months now…[Read more]

OOf, sorry you are going through it. 🙁

Have his teeth been checked? I can’t help but wonder if he has a dental problem that means he eats less hay, so he has soft poops… which get stuck to his bum.. and could now be causing eye issues among other facial issues.
