There are some nutrients (I believe Vit A?) that develop when the hay cures in the sun. A variety of hays is even better (anecdotally I’ve heard that a combo of timohty, orchard, and bermuda seems very good for bunny tummies).
Fresh grass is also good, and can be especially helpful with tummy troubles because it is hydrating. Fresh grass can be…[Read more]

thanks! Do you know if hay is better than fresh grass? does being dried improve the benefit to their gut?

That’s great!
I’ve used Bene-bac before (the pre-made gel, not the powder). Can’t really say if it helped or not, but the bunnies liked it and a lot of people here have used it for their buns.
That said, the best thing for the bunny gut flora is hay hay hay hay. 🙂

Also, be careful that he isn’t eating too many pellets. At 6 months of age, he should start getting only a measured amount of pellets each day. Too many pellets can cause weight gain and can cause soft poops, which are more likely to get stuck in his fur. Cutting back on the pellets might make him eat more hay too. Since he doesn’t like Timo…[Read more]

I agree, I’m not seeing what the problem is either. From this picture, the eye appears normal. Maybe a sliver of the third eyelid showing, but that isn’t a cause for concern.

Her eye doesn’t look that bad in the pictures. Just a little watery. What’s concerning is the white stuff you are seeing every now and then. Like I said above, a clear and watery discharge suggests something is irritating the eye. White discharge could be just a clogged tear duct, but it could also be an infection. Either way, if it doesn’t clear…[Read more]

Well her eye isn’t red at all. The redness is from the camera flash. But yes I think I will def take her or at least call.

Hi! My bun Hades lives in my room with the door shut. He just got neutered less than a week ago and is recovering well. But today the house cat, Maddie, pushed open my door (first time she’s ever done this) and I guess went in to have a look around. I don’t think she expected to find anyone in there. I heard her and Hades growling at each other…[Read more]

Sounds like it’s going very well! I agree with Wick on everything. The space sounds plenty large enough (esp since she does get some run-around time), and it sounds like she is feeling happy and safe with the arrangement.
I wouldn’t add in the bedroom for the time being. Perhaps once they are bonded you might want to (or it might be a nice…[Read more]

It sounds like things are going well– you’ve been very patient! If she’s bar pulling a lot and really aggressively, it might be good to put some toys are something against those walls or she may hurt herself/her teeth. Dental damage due to bar pulling is possible if done chronically and intensely enough.
A 4’x7′ space is a fine space– it’s…[Read more]

Rabbits are very good at hiding ailments until they are severe enough. Many times there are other signs with dental problems, but not always. Some rabbits can tolerate some dental discomfort better than others. Just something to consider, as mentioned above, with other potential causes users have mentioned.
Is the eye still red and watery…[Read more]

Hi,
I know I said I would update on bonding but just coming on again to say thanks again as things continue to go well 🎉
Phil is well settled into the pen. Occasional bar rattling but nothing major.
I let her out this evening for the first time since early Sunday afternoon (it’s Tuesday evening here) for 15/20 minutes and blocked off the couch…[Read more]

Yeah I understand that with the dental problems but she would be showing some signs. She eats on both signs easily and so playful

I have moved this topic to a different forum section where it is more applicable!
Your rabbit is very cute! From this photo, I actually don’t see anything unusual with the eye. What sort of things are you observing? Can you describe it and is it different than what you see in the other eye?

We spent 4 full days together over the last week and now that I’m back at work I don’t have as much time for full day dates and I’m trying to figure out what to do now. She got him good a few times and when she gets close he just jumps straight up. When she’s relaxing he’ll go put his nose by hers and if she’s sleepy she’ll ignore him, but her…[Read more]
