Andrea G. started the topic Antibiotic Use in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 8 months ago
Tonight we had to take our rabbit to an emergency vet visit due to a cut on his underbelly and penis. They prescribed antibiotics as a precaution to give him to avoid infection. Is there anything I should give him with the antibiotics to help his tummy stay normal? Would you recommend I give him a probiotic with it at all? I have never had to give…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Short loss of appetite? in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 8 months ago
Rabbits GI system work pretty fast, so it’s unlikely “being full” carries over a whole day. More likely Thumper had a little gas discomfort which resolved itself over time.

So all day Thumper didn’t eat anything (no pellets, hay OR banana) but at about 5:30 PM (it’s almost 7 PM for me) he started eating again. My mom thinks he was full because yesterday he had some apple and banana but I don’t think that’s how rabbits work; So my question is do you think my mom was right? Or do you think it might have been from…[Read more]

@bam took her to the vet and lux is super healthy!!! Doctor thinks it might of been a little cyst maybe and scraped most of it off so I gotta put neosporin on it for a little bit. Also thinks maybe a tiny infection in the eye so we are on antibiotics for 5 days and probiotics for 5 days. Other than that he said she is very healthy 😀 i am so re…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Ear tattoos, yes or no? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 8 months ago
As Dana says, ear tattoos are still done these days, but micro chipping is becoming more and more common for identification purposes. This is because a bun needs to be asleep for the tattoo, but not for microchipping, and because an ear tattoo can become illegible with time.

I second that my buns love the willow wreaths, sea grass mats, and willow baskets from the BB store.
For DIY stuff, there are lots of things you can make with paper towel tubes (like diy treat balls, here was a cute one: https://binkybunny.com/forums/topic/homemade-toy/), and I’ve also made homemade newspaper mats that my buns really like (as…[Read more]

I haven’t heard of this for spay/neuter, but it’s very common for showing rabbits, so it is safe.
Maybe a better option would be to get her microchipped, then it would be in the system that she’s spayed?
I think some vets will also do a tattoo near where they would shave to prep for the surgery, that way if they ever went to spay the bun again…[Read more]

Considering we all know bunnies ears are super delicate and help in regulating their body temperature it struck me in shock when my vet told me they tattoo their ears after a spay/neuter. I had never heard of this, I know its done for dogs and cats etc but for a bunny sounded far fetched! I told them I didn’t want my poor girl tattooed when I…[Read more]

Yea thats kinda what I was thinking. Have them live in my room but separated and as the bonding progresses I can remove the gate and let them free roam in my room together.

Hi GraceandFlopsie,
I’ve actually had great success with the chew toys I’ve bought from here at the BinkyBunny store – I truly think they’re some of the best around! If you’re looking for specifics my bunnies Ollie and Leo have both loved the Bare Willow rings (they come in a 5 pack) and the rectangle willow baskets. I have also found that my…[Read more]

With Louie and Lola, they had their initial speed date and got along fine, then bonding starting in one of our bathrooms that was nice and neutral then moving into semi-neutral, slowly expanding their space so they were somewhat forced to be in each other’s presence. Towards the end of securing their bond, I had them free roam in our room together…[Read more]
