Every bunny is different. They have their own personalities and, as Bam pointed out, some of that can be influenced by early experiences. If a bunny is naturally shy and all they have ever known was a tiny cage, it may take more time for them to feel comfortable with the idea that they can venture out of their “safe space”. Continue to encourage…[Read more]

I dont think this is a problem. Your boy has had a different kind of life, where he has been able to express his rabbitude from an early age. Your girl didn’t get to do that as a youngster, because she wasn’t with you.

My bun Bam was an adult when he came to me. I dont know what kind of life he had before I found him, but judging from his…[Read more]

    Hello.

I’ve have a rescue rabbit. I got her when she was a year and a half. She was always in a cage her entire life. I have gotten her spayed snd I’ve had her for over a year. She was extremely shy and I worked very hard with her to get her comfortable and trusting. I was always there to cheer for her when she finally wanted to step out of the…[Read more]

Decreased appetite is rare with Enrofloxacin. Most rabbits don’t have an digestive problems when taking it, but as Wick said a probiotic wouldn’t hurt anything.

They gave us Enrofloxacin and silver sulfaduazine to put on the cut.

Apple and banana are high in sugar, which can cause tummy upsets in buns if you give too much or they have a sensitive tummy. So it could have been gas discomfort related to the fruit.

You are right in that bunnies aren’t full for that long, and they especially wouldn’t be full from something high in sugar and easily digestible like fruit.

Giving a probiotic about an hour after an antibiotic administration is sometimes a recommendation. There is contention in the field if probiotics actually work in rabbits, but there is no harm in doing it. If you can get some infant gas drops (simethicone), this can help alleviate any gas that might come up. Simethicone is safe for rabbits and…[Read more]

How long have you had your rabbit for?

An xray could be an informative assessment. Also, I notice you mention seeing 3 vets, including an exotic. Ideally, you want any vet who sees your rabbit to be an exotic vet because they will most likely be better experienced and trained to assess rabbits properly, though I understand exotic vets may be more…[Read more]

    Hi need some advice please…

My giant french lop has been breathing fast for last 3 weeks now. Breathing ranges between 100-140 per minute. I have seen 3 vets (including exotic vet) who have checked him over. Have been told it is pain or infection related. Is this usual for bunnies?

All said his heart and lungs sound fine. He had an ear…[Read more]

Tonight we had to take our rabbit to an emergency vet visit due to a cut on his underbelly and penis. They prescribed antibiotics as a precaution to give him to avoid infection. Is there anything I should give him with the antibiotics to help his tummy stay normal? Would you recommend I give him a probiotic with it at all? I have never had to give…[Read more]

Rabbits GI system work pretty fast, so it’s unlikely “being full” carries over a whole day. More likely Thumper had a little gas discomfort which resolved itself over time.

So all day Thumper didn’t eat anything (no pellets, hay OR banana) but at about 5:30 PM (it’s almost 7 PM for me) he started eating again. My mom thinks he was full because yesterday he had some apple and banana but I don’t think that’s how rabbits work; So my question is do you think my mom was right? Or do you think it might have been from…[Read more]
