Gotcha, I am remembering your other thread now.
You’re right in that he is likely getting lots of water from his diet, but if most of his diet is fresh foods, it sounds like he doesn’t have a great hay appetite?
Has he had a deep oral exam? Lack of bulk (as you know) can also cause issues. Sometimes very slight oral irritation is enough to…[Read more]

zhesiya started the topic PLEASE HELP: Bond broken after vet visit in the forum BONDING 5 years, 8 months ago
I’m desperately in need of help – I’ve combed this website and other sites for answers, but it seems the notes there are theoretical/speculative at best (and not to mention over ten years old)… so in desperation I’ve made an account hoping someone has experienced this before and/or might know enough to help me.
TLDR: My two bunnies bonded…[Read more]

I agree with Dana on Laxatone. Vets used to recommend it years ago, then they stopped, now we’re seeing it recommended again by some vets. The debate is about whether they could make matters worse for the reason Dana mentions. Since they mostly contain fat, they could potentially cause the intestinal contents to repel water, when what you want is…[Read more]

I ended up putting about 5 small leaves of oregano and 2 small stalks of rosemary and steeped it in warm water and fed it to him in a syringe and he loves it! and I have heard of hay tea but I have yet to try seeing if he likes it!

It was prescribed for a previous and similar gi issue. She’s been out for months so I’ve been on my own.  I’ve only give 3 doses total of reglan over the last month of on and off tummy trouble.
he eats an almost entirely fresh diet so I assume he gets a lot of fluid from that. I will say the two nights that he didn’t eat at all, he drank A TON wh…[Read more]

Hi Dana
When circling I mean they are running/chasing each other head to tail. I haven’t moved them to a new location, it’s still the same location as where they were bonded, they have been there for about a week so far. Between the first incident and the one this morning it was over 48 hours, so it was a bit surprising to see….
I was planning…[Read more]

I think that would be nice. 🙂 As long as you don’t steep more than you would normally feed in a serving you should be fine. Lots of folks make chamomile or mint tea for their buns, especially when the bun is poorly. You can even make tea out of hay, which is really nutritious for bunnies. 🙂

You can give a bun cooled herbal tea. You can even make hay tea for buns. I think most buns would prefer eating the herbs as they are though. But cooled mint or chamomile herbal tea can be very helpful if a bun gets tummy trouble.

That’s how bunnies spray. It’s territorial and hormonal, and can mean he is claiming your mom as his 😉
I think I recall he is due to be neutered soon? That behavior should definitely improve with neutering!

I’ve heard mixed things about mineral oil type products for bunnies. Sometimes it seems to help, other times it can make things worse because it prevents any masses in the gut from absorbing water. So I think there is some debate surrounding it. Hydration is really important for gut function, and if there is some sort of blockage brewing the idea…[Read more]

If he’s eating hay well then I would go for hay-only, and give it about a week to see if there’s any improvements.
