It sounds like it was going fine, but you just moved a bit too fast. I would go back to the last place they did well, so that would probably be the kitchen. If the kitchen doesn’t go as well as before, you can try a car ride first or the bathtub first. You’ll want to work up to long sessions with positive behaviors and no negatives before moving…[Read more]

Nope, when he is stressed or anxious, he hides  behind the little space behind his x-pen and just sits there. He grooms himself with gentle licks.. I’ve never seen him obtain big chunks of hair from it.

I have, I had a foster with chronic gi issues. He was quite ill though, so it was a bit more urgent.

I would just go ahead and stop everything except hay, but keep an eye on his eating and poop output to make sure he’s eating enough. If his poops start looking small or hard, then he prob isn’t eating enough hay and you should give him back either…[Read more]

Some rabbits take a bit more time to bounce back from a stressful event. If the nail trimming did not happen, is there anything else that coincides with these symptoms?

How is her breathing? Are her eyes relaxed or are they wide open and still “bugged out”, showing anxiety?

When is the last time she has eaten and pooped?

If the skin looks healthy, it’s more likely shedding. When grooming, you should be removing fur that has naturally “released” itself already, so if what’s left is skin, that’s simply the result of your rabbit’s shedding pattern this time. Grooming daily during a heavy molt is important, because if you leave it for him to eat, the consequences of a…[Read more]

It started on his neck and over the past few days, I’ve noticed it gradually moving to his head. Its not that big but very noticeable. I have been grooming him almost everyday (not thoroughly because he won’t let me) only because he has so much hair which gets matted very easily. Could this be from excessive grooming you think? Also I don’t really…[Read more]

I should add she has had a few droppings that I can tell. But they’re small.

I trimmed my bun’s nails last night and she’s seemed stressed since then. It was the fourth time doing so. She doesn’t love it but gets a treat afterward and behaves normally. But after trimming last night, she didn’t want any treats, not even her favorite. Not sure why this trim made her so stressed. (She was eating normally just minutes before…[Read more]

Fur loss to the extent of seeing bare skin can actually happen naturally as a rabbit molts.  If it is a large area though, I would consider factors like mites or ringworm. How does the skin look and how big is the skin patch? Is he shedding right now heavily?

Hello, I’ve noticed an area on my bunnies neck is bald. Like just skin.. I wanted to know if this was normal in rabbits and if it even is Alopecia. Sawyer (my bunny) doesn’t seem to notice his lack of hair in that area and is functioning like a typical 3 month bunny so I am really clueless as to what this bald spot is.

Hi all! I just got into rabbits with my two girls, Nova and Mischa. I got the two littermates as babies and of course, they started fighting as soon as they hit puberty. They were promptly separated and spayed. I didn’t spend much time trying to bond them after this, but they established a pretty good relationship when they’re on opposite sides of…[Read more]

Since it has been going on for two days, there may be something irritating the eye, causing the tear duct to react. Rather than your rabbit over grooming the area, more likely he is “crying” a lot, leading to fur loss and general moist fur in the area. Sometimes these things resolve on their own if it’s something like a piece of hay or eye lash in…[Read more]

    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knows why my Appa is over grooming his eye or if he’s sick? He’s eating and drinking and behaving normally but it appears his right eye corner is losing some hair and is a bit pink and raw from grooming. Is there anything I can do to help or does he need a vet ASAP? I’ve been cleaning the corner with a Q-tip since…[Read more]
