Are the Oxbow Essentials Adult rabbit pellets supposed to be the healthiest pellets? I’ve been thinking about switching to it from the Martin Timothy Adult rabbit food. The Martin ones are very small (scared of them choking, I spread them out on the floor) and I think I’ve been told the Oxbow ones are healthier. I found a Canadian site that sel…[Read more]

Yep, I just used a damp towel and dried him off. I also agree that once a week doesn’t sound right… I think I did shots every day for 6 weeks…? But that was for a dental abscess which is very hard to treat.
The bun was a very good sport about it, I would just pop him on the table so he wouldn’t run off. Since it’s in their scruff I don’t…[Read more]

I would clean Wick with just a damp paper towel wipe and dry. The vet assistant gave us the wrong size needle, and I didn’t notice until later, so I kept struggling to plunge it (penicillin is slightly goopy, so it would clog the needle), thus leading to tiny spurts on his back when I’d try to test plunge before the shot.
I am not a vet nor…[Read more]

DanaNM Thanks 🥺 I would imagine they’d be squirmy! Surprising the bun even sat still. Glad he was okay! What did you clean him with? (Just in case anything like that happens…)
I read someone say that the penicillin shots don’t always work to clear things up if it’s only done once a week. They said they recommend every other day, but that’…[Read more]

Oranges without the peel are fine to give.

When I was researching foods to help with this, I got oranges. Are oranges safe to give rabbits?

My father in law does intend to hunt birds with him, and he hunts with the dog’s mom. The mom (Cali) is about 8 or 9 so doesn’t have too many hunting years left, so the idea was to have Buddy (her son) to hunt with after that.
So far we haven’t let Cali come in contact with the buns. We tried introducing her to the cat and it didn’t go well (she…[Read more]

If you do have to do Penicillin shots, they honestly aren’t too bad (easier than syringe feeding in my book). The first time or two will be stressful but you’ll get the hang of it and the bun usually seems like they barely notice. I had to do them for a bun with a dental abscess, and freaked out the first time because I accidentally poked all the…[Read more]

Wick poor bunny was really going through it! 🙁 Thanks for the info, makes me feel a bit more confident.
LBJ10 Thank you. I’m looking at some photos of rabbit syphilis and other things, some similar to Muffins but not much diagnosed and cleared. I hope these tests will give us something we can treat and he won’t have to go through this anymore. ):

Did they get him to hunt with or was he supposed to be just a pet? Has he shown a particular interest in the buns? Otis is very good with Oscar, he doesn’t look at him as something to “hunt” but as I said, he really doesn’t seem to have much of a hunting instinct to begin with. 😆

I agree, I believe mine both think they are dominate and it seems to get more level over time. I recently moved us all and they got some new furniture so seem really happy. Once I’m more settled I plan to start fostering buns too.
I attached recent pics and plan to keep in touch via the lounge probably on the site!

That’s great to know, some of them are a bit tricky now. We’ve done another successful round, this time another 10 mls in him. As he’s eating reasonably well I think 10mls x 4 per day will be sufficient. The vet had said if he wasn’t eating the daily dose was 70mls. Obviously I don’t want to fill him up on CC so he doesn’t bother eating hay.…[Read more]
