I doubt 2 weeks in advance would cause trouble. It is after all recommended that you get an extra booster if there is an outbreak near you. I have heard about vets in Britain refusing to vaccinate before the booster is due, but I dont know the reason.. Several other vaccines for pets are nowadays given with longer intervals than used to be…[Read more]

I would definitely add some timothy hay into her diet. Generally speaking, a larger variety of hay provides a higher level of nutrition so a bunny on timothy, meadow, orchard, oat etc. will have a more nutritious diet than a bunny kept purely on meadow. Timothy hay is high in fibre so particularly good if you’re experiencing squishy/dark poops.…[Read more]

Hi,
a quick question, do any of you know whether bunnies can have their booster vaccinations before their due date?
One of our buns is due her booster on the 14th. I tried to email the vet today to book her in for next week 8th Feb, but I received a fairly rude response which didn’t help at all. This isn’t our normal vet clinic but due to the…[Read more]

If she is pooping, things are moving through. There’s not a lot more you can do now, except make sure she moves around and keeps warm. (If she moves around and eats by herself, she will keep warm in normal room temp. Cisapride (a motility drug) and metacam are drugs that are commonly prescribed for rabbits, I’d keep giving those.
You can give 1…[Read more]

Oxbow Garden Select chinchilla food is not alfalfa-based. That’s why you’ll see websites not recommending it. The Oxbow Essentials is perfectly fine for chinchillas. I had chinchillas many years ago and I used Mazuri.

Hi there,
We have an 8 year old Netherland dwarf bunny named Ellie. She’s had e cuniculi in the past and was on the 28 day treatment and since then (2018) she’s been good as ever.
Yesterday, however she went into stasis. She wouldn’t eat, drink, move. She was shaking and laying weird. I immediately gave Ovol gas drops and massaged her belly and…[Read more]

They just need more time to settle in, so I wouldn’t worry about moving anything around for now, as that will make them feel more unsettled. If they are lounging and eating, that’s all good. They are probably very happy and relieved to have such a nice home with so many new toys and hides, and are just taking it all in and making sure it’s safe…[Read more]

Hi everyone,
I need to make sure everything is alright with my bun.
She eats normally, drinks, runs everything but every evening she has normal poops but there are also some very very small ones and maybe one like squished together.
Is this okay as long as she eats as always?
Thank you!

Sounds like a good plan! Rabbits are social animals, but as prey they are quite different than an animal like a dog. Rabbits will watch out for each other, and even bonded pairs spend part of the day doing their own thing. Sometimes when you spend too much focus on your rabbit, they can feel a bit threatened, like they are being watched by a…[Read more]

Thanks for responding! Toasty is indeed a sassy boy and I have done a bit of clicker training so he comes when called, but I do want to teach him more tricks. I also will admit that I’m very clingy so I will do my best to refrain! But I have succeeded in him tolerating me picking him up for short periods of time as long as he gets a treat…[Read more]

Hello guys!
So last Friday I adopted two rescues and brought them home and left them to settle and explore their new pen. They are both very quiet and nervous, easily spooked so I have been trying to keep things slow paced.
I’m a little stuck though. I’m hoping to progress them to free roam bunnies, starting with the room their pen is cur…[Read more]
