I would definitely add some timothy hay into her diet. Generally speaking, a larger variety of hay provides a higher level of nutrition so a bunny on timothy, meadow, orchard, oat etc. will have a more nutritious diet than a bunny kept purely on meadow. If she is pooping, things are moving through. There’s not a lot more you can do now, except make sure she moves around and keeps warm. (If she moves around and eats by herself, she will keep warm in normal room temp. Cisapride (a motility drug) and metacam are drugs that are commonly prescribed for rabbits, I’d keep giving those.

Oxbow Garden Select chinchilla food is not alfalfa-based. That’s why you’ll see websites not recommending it. The Oxbow Essentials is perfectly fine for chinchillas. I had chinchillas many years ago and I used Mazuri.

They just need more time to settle in, so I wouldn’t worry about moving anything around for now, as that will make them feel more unsettled. If they are lounging and eating, that’s all good. Thanks for responding! Toasty is indeed a sassy boy and I have done a bit of clicker training so he comes when called, but I do want to teach him more tricks. I also will admit that I’m very clingy so I will do my best to refrain! But I have succeeded in him tolerating me picking him up for short periods of time as long as he gets a treat…[Read more]
