I just gave him some of the Emeraid. 2tsp of the powder for the first feeding. Am I able to go back to the oxbow critical care tonight if he’s having issues taking the Emeraid? Or is switching between critical care types bad? He didn’t take it as easily as the Oxbow. I had to keep putting the syringe in his mouth and he was turning away. Maybe it’…[Read more]

Thank you Bam. I am grateful for the support on here. It is really heartbreaking to see Muffin going through this. I hope he likes the Emeraid too. Thank you for your help.

When was the last time he ate and pooped normally? Those sound like symptoms of pain, since it is out of the norm for him. He could be having some gas or other tummy upset. Will he eat greens or a treat?
If you have it, my go-to when a bunny is off is to give simethicone (baby gas drops), a tummy rub, and either a bit of fluids or some watered…[Read more]

I think you are doing great. It is very stressful to care for a poorly rabbit. When my bun was very poorly last fall I was so worried I couldnt think straight. Thankfully I could reach out to other bun owners for support.
The Emeraid does sound like good stuff. I hope he will like it!

Thank you Bam. This is all just really stressful because I’m constantly worried about him. All I want is for him to be healthy again.

I have never used Emeraid myself, but I know some of our members have. I looked it up and it has 32% fiber and its pretty high in protein and fat.
I dont know why it would be more sensitive to bacterial growth than f ex Critical Care is, but since it says on the package to be extra careful, it’s best to stick to those recommendations.

Her set up sounds perfect. I was pretty sure she had a very good environment, since you seem very knowlegeable.
I do think the advice Wick gave you about medication for anxiety could be worth exploring together with your vet. It could perhaps be used for a shorter period to help her get proper rest and for her system to calm down. With nightmares…[Read more]

Thank you for sharing! Much appreciated.
I think you are correct about the lip being affected more than the mouth. When she came home and tried to eat, it looked a bit like a bun with dental issues but yesterday when we visited her in the hospital she was able to pick up and eat some coriander by herself and it looked quite normal. She hasn’t h…[Read more]

They didn’t have any oxbow critical care left but they have Emeraid herbivore. Is this okay? It says to feed within 30 minutes of preparing it. It has this warning:
Emeraid has been scientifically designed for extremely high digestibility. Avoid contamination. Handle product carefully. Keep dry. Use a clean, dry scoop. Do not cross contaminate w…[Read more]

Get thee to your vet and they can give them liquids under the skin. More water should (in my limited experience) help digestive issues too.

Hi,
So I’m a bit worried about my rabbit… He looks very meek and his behaviour is very unlike him.
His name is Ozi and he’s usually a curious, mischievous, and fearless little boy. Today he spent the whole day hopping around in my room, making a mess, and playing with my other rabbit – his usual rabbit behaviour. It’s nighttime where I am, so,…[Read more]

I don’t have experience with this surgery, although I know there have been members in the past that did. I do have experience with facial paralysis though.
Facial paralysis following this type of surgery doesn’t surprise me. You’re messing around in the area of the 7th cranial nerve, which runs through the ear structure. Damage to this nerve can…[Read more]

(The only medicine he gets with food is the Enrofloxacin at 6:30am and 6:30pm) I don’t think I was clear on that oops.

Thank you Bam. I wasn’t told not to feed him critical care at night. I was told to follow the instructions on the package. It worries me thinking he’s not eating while I’m asleep. He gets meds at 11pm, 1am, and 6:30am with food. I’ll still be giving him critical care at night but I’ll try not to do it for too long.
The metacam is supposed…[Read more]

I agree with Dana. To clarify – when I suggested testing the waters with a pen, I wasn’t suggesting that you could switch to a leash if she seemed OK after being in the pen for a few minutes. I’m glad everything turned out OK and your bunny seemed to enjoy herself. If you continue to take your bunny outside, I urge you to find a safe place. Find a…[Read more]
