DanaNM replied to the topic Dorian and the crows in the forum THE LOUNGE 5 years, 6 months ago
I wouldn’t be so sure they aren’t considering Dorian as a possible snack. Crows are omnivores and will eat just about anything. They have been observed to using bread to catch fish, so I don’t think it’s a big jump to think maybe they are using nuts to lure Dorian out.
Found this tid bit online “Crows may not be labelled as birds of prey, but…[Read more]

Poor little guy has been through a lot. ๐
If he isn’t eating much at all on his own, you should syringe feed him some critical care (or offer some on a plate, he might eat it willingly). I’m guessing all of the changes in diet have upset his tummy a bit and he’s probably stressed from his ordeal. It’s good he’s drinking though!
I think you are…[Read more]

We got our new bunny home yesterday, he hasnโt been eating much. I was told he ate some Timothy hay in the carrier on the way here, but now he just picks it up and drops it like heโs moving it around. He chewed it a few times but Iโm not sure if he actually ate it. Heโs 6 months old and came from a meat farm, to the vet for a couple days, then to…[Read more]

prince dorian the bun replied to the topic Dorian and the crows in the forum THE LOUNGE 5 years, 6 months ago
We have owls, eagles and other raptors so I am actually happy the crows are about as they are a quick alarm system. But it also means I don’t let him out alone. So though personally I don’t think the crow is looking at Dorian as food, don’t worry I am still keeping an eye out on their interactions.
Dorian tends to like everyone and every…[Read more]

How much lettuce are you feeding?
I would keep offering timothy pieces as often as you can, especially right before you plan to feed salad (so you know he’s hungry)

Pellets and lettuce are his main diet and I also forgot to mention that he isn’t really attracted to treats (fruits etc..)

Willow replied to the topic Feeding a 5 month old bun Adult diet in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 6 months ago
Yep everything else with him is okay he’s pooping and eating lettuce and just loves his pellets. Depends sometimes if I hold out a piece of timothy hay he will eat it but after eating a piece he’ll ignore it and won’t eat more.
Should I try decreasing the amount of lettuce he eats daily or the pellets?

Hmmm, I wouldn’t go to alfalfa hay since he was eating timothy before. Maybe he’s filling up on lettuce? Sometimes a particular bag of hay is “off” and a bun with snub it, so you might try to get a new bag/brand of timothy and see if that helps. If you hold out a few strands of hay, will he take it from you? For some reason hay that’s been…[Read more]

Glad you figured it out! My bunnies HATE cooking sounds, especially the sound of things sizzling in a pan. I wonder if it sounds like a snake to them? We used to morbidly joke they were afraid we were going to eat them.
My do seem like they got used to it though.

He is very cute and what a perfect name!
I’m not sure on the breed, but some of the other forum moderators are better with the breed game than I am. To me he looks like he could be a lionhead with maybe with some dwarf in there (based on head shape and ear size)? He might have a small amount of wooly or angora somewhere in his genes to give him…[Read more]

Maybe you could try playing some soft piano, or other gentle music and see if that helps to calm her down?
Agreed, it’s definitely instinctive behavior, for you sound very responsible and kind, two things that rabbits like! ๐

I just got my bun last week and he is 5 months old. He was already on timothy hay and an adult pellet diet when I got him so I decided to continue with that. Moreover, the first day that I got him he was eating hay but the next few days once I started feeding him lettuce and 1/4 cup of pellets a day he has totally stopped eating his hay. I’ve…[Read more]

That’s great ๐
Sometimes when rabbits have to be separated for illness they come right back together without issue. Sometimes they even seem like “OMG I missed you so much!”
-
DanaNM replied to the topic Almost at my wit's end in the forum BONDING 5 years, 6 months ago
Ok that is helpful! Rabbits can start to smell very differently once they hit puberty and are castrated, so falling outs can happen. If they are aggressive through the bars, sometimes it’s best to hang up a towel or another visual barrier so they aren’t constantly just like “LET ME AT EM” at each other.
Are you doing and side swaps or litter box…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic sick bunny? in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 6 months ago
Those pictures don’t look like pain positions to me. Every bunny is different, but when my bunnies are in pain postures they will also squint and just seem tense all around. If you only notice the tooth grinding when she is sleepy or your petting her that sounds like tooth-purring to me. ๐
If she is eating and pooping then I think she is feeling…[Read more]

Completely normal. ๐
Some bunnies will eat them straight from their bum right as they come out, others will let them fall to the floor then turn around and eat them (or some combo of the two!)
