Just wanted to updated that we made it to Massachusetts safe and sound yesterday! Will have to post more details and photos later… I ended up having to separate the pairs into separate carriers because on the second day they started scuffling in the carrier towards the end of the day (I rode the last hour with Cooper on my lap….). I had…[Read more]

Oh no, they just threw him/her away? Without a tear? I cannot imagine that you’d feel so little for a rabbit.
I’m crying with you here, while cuddling my bun 😥 Buns deserve so much better!
Any progress in the situation btw?

Since aloe gel is considered safe, I would assume an aloe containing lotion would be OK too. The amount of actual aloe would be very small. I agree with Bam. I don’t think you did anything. My guess is he was sick for a long time. Rabbits are good at hiding illness until they are very, very sick. The mites may simply have been taking advantage of…[Read more]

I agree with Bam. It just looks like patches of fur growing in.

Yes, flavored gas drops tend to be more palatable. Something to keep in mind for the future. I haven’t noticed any infant gas drops with xylitol, but that is one thing to always what out for. It isn’t safe for rabbits (or other animals).
Can you add a little something to the pellet mash to make it more appealing? A tiny bit of apple juice or…[Read more]

Hi everyone, just setting up this March topic! Glad to be back, and I see I’ve got a lot of reading up to do 🙂
Breintje has become an old fart over the last year, he’s become a lovely cuddlebug at 8,5 years old. When he was younger he used to run around all day and chew a tunnel through a phone book. Now he loves laying next to me on the sofa,…[Read more]

Oh no, that’s horrible 🙁 I know it’s been a while, but I’m very sorry for your loss. She was such a beloved bun and beautiful girl!

Hazel replied to the topic Baby bunny becoming antisocial in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 5 months ago
She’s just growing up. 🙂 Baby bunnies are usually pretty chill and happy to be handled. Adults not so much. Even once she’s been spayed she most likely won’t go back to being as cuddly as she has been as a baby, but that’s completely normal for an adult rabbit.

Thank you both for the advice and support. Yes, the drops are specifically unflavored infant simethicone. I’m starting to wonder if maybe last time they were flavored which might explain why she liked them so much back then. I have not tried a pellet mash yet, i will make one of those today. And yes I will get my hands on some critical care for f…[Read more]

That’s normal for an intact male rabbit.

Just to be clear, in general, these forums don’t recommend walking rabbits on a leash. That said, I do walk my rabbit on a leash now and then, because he clearly enjoys it, and was harness-trained in his first home, long before he came to me. He is a remarkably un-skittish rabbit. We only walk in fenced-in gardens, where there’s no risk of…[Read more]

<p style=”padding-left: 40px;”>I have a rabbit that enjoys going outside. Right now I’m using an H style cat harness but it’s kinda hard to get it off so I’m looking at different options to try. I was interested in try an agility shoulder harness but can’t find one online. I’ve also tied the traditional vest style harness but she didn’t like it.…[Read more]

I hope so too, because hay is obviously the best food for him. If you have access to pesticide-free fresh grass, that’s a decent substitute. Cat grass is good of course, but probably difficult to grow in more substantial quantities.
I’d keep giving the gas drops because they cant hurt. You could also try a probiotic (benebac for example), if you…[Read more]
