I’m so sorry for your loss, I just got caught up on your thread about her πŸ™

Truly heartbreaking and you really did everything you could have for her.

I just wanted to update that Fresno is doing really well right now! I have 4 different pairs of hock socks I got from Etsy, they range in thickness/fluffiness so that I can use the less fluffy ones when his foot fur is fully grown back and his feet are healed, because he did have sore hocks. They’re looking better already, I haven’t had to give…[Read more]

Parroting what Wick&Fable said, yes you need to wait until she is older enough to be spayed (4-6 months, depending on the vet you use and her breed) and her hormones have settled (usually 3-4 weeks post-spay, but sometimes longer).

Best chances of success are with a neutered male, so if you can find a rescue you can adopt a neutered male, or even…[Read more]

To be honest I’m not very sure, but I would check in with the vet and ask. I would not expect a dewlap to stay displaced as it’s just a malleable portion of fat.

hi I have a female bunny, 5 months, that we just had spayed. when she came home from the vet she was in a onesie and after a few hours the onesie was really pushing her dewlap up around her neck it looked huge. we took the onesie off and tried her with the cone, same sort of problem. it’s been 2 days and I have now taken them both off however her…[Read more]

My lux sadly crossed the bridge today. I did all I could and even brought her to the hospital. She gave me 8 1/2 wonderful years. Love you baby girl

Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear that Lux didn’t make it. πŸ™Β  You were definitely doing all you could for her. Sometimes these things happen and we just don’t know why.

You did all you could. Vet care, excellent supportive care at home with all the appropriate meds, then admitted to in-patient vet care in a 24/7 h animal hospital. It’s not humanly possible to do more. When push comes to shove, we’re all just humans, and we are not in ultimate control of things.

    Lux was a lucky bun.

Sometimes the vet will do sub-Q fluids to help flush things out. Not sure what your vet has tried.

I’m glad to hear that she has been more alert. How is she doing today? I’m hoping she passed whatever was in there.

I agree. Egg used as a binder isn’t toxic. I would be more worried about the seeds. Again, not toxic, but generally not considered healthy. If rabbits get any kind of seeds (like a sunflower seed, for example), it should be limited to just one as a treat. Not a whole stick of seeds.
