Sometimes the vet will do sub-Q fluids to help flush things out. Not sure what your vet has tried.

I’m glad to hear that she has been more alert. How is she doing today? I’m hoping she passed whatever was in there.

I agree. Egg used as a binder isn’t toxic. I would be more worried about the seeds. Again, not toxic, but generally not considered healthy. If rabbits get any kind of seeds (like a sunflower seed, for example), it should be limited to just one as a treat. Not a whole stick of seeds.

While it may suck to hear you need to wait, you do need to wait. The ideal candidates for rabbit bonding (ideal, because there’s no guarantee any two rabbits will get along as lifelong buddies) are two fixed (i.e., spay and neutered) rabbits. There is no way to predict when hormones may arise in young rabbits and the “bond” between a pair of…[Read more]

I’m sure eggs aren’t immediately toxic or poisonous, but regardless, I wouldn’t feed any type of “seed” sticks to a rabbit. Although many of these types of treats are advertised for them, their use of corn and seeds is especially unhealthy and can cause bad indigestion for some rabbits as well.

If you’ve seen my first post, he is alright; just an old happy bunny. But today bought some treat sticks to give him once I’ve cleaned the cage and noticed that one of the ingredients are eggs, is this safe for him?

Hello there, I hope you can help me with this query I have. I have adopted a now 10 week old bunny named Lilly. Although she is happy, I want the best for her, and I am thinking about getting her a companion as I know that rabbits are social animals.
I heard that a neutered male and neutered female are best match. Lilly is too young to be spayed…[Read more]

She has not pooped yet but it could take time since she hasnt been eating anything but the critical care we are giving her. Her body is warm but ears are a little co…[Read more]

Ok, I am at my wits end! I need advice. I have a bonded pair. Baby ( 2 yrs, female, spayed ) & Bolt (2 yrs, male, neutered ). They were in love before and after their procedures and are not litter mates. Baby was acquired first, and bolt about 3 months after that. They are bonded & spent every second of every day together and love routine. I live…[Read more]

Has she pooped at all yet? I mean, since you have been giving her the meds. It sounds like there is something in there and the gurgling is it trying to move. Is she cold at all? Sometimes their body temperature will drop a bit when going through a GI episode. Warming her up can help.

Should I take her to the hospital tonight or tomorrow or let the meds work?

If the doc suspected sth really bad they wouldve kept her and put her on iv fluids and probably more heavy duty painkillers.
Gurgles is good, it means there is movement in the intestines. She still needs a bit of exercise to pass the gass. But it’s a good sign!
Its not possible to say how many doses. That is entirely individual. When I’ve had…[Read more]
