Hi! My bunny is called Toasty, and we decided to do a photo shoot today with our neighbor’s baby and Toasty. If you’re wondering how the photo shoot went, it was fine- that wasn’t the problem. But before the photo shoot began, my mom and I were getting Toasty ready for it. We have a simple collar with a bow tie on it that we clipped a leash to. We…[Read more]

I think it’s my fault that she doesn’t jump for the stacks. I think she just grew so accustomed to pellets it’s a transition for her as she goes for pellets. She’s always like that with food where it’s always just a little transition, then when she figures it out she’s all for it.
Hey about the timothy pellets for horses that you’re talking…[Read more]

See if you can view these pics. She is the white one. https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipO8gkx8-2IZOFac7yuVLq85bkUpdIwMLDXf8z3JmYjWleITLR3xgStXQ6N_79GlFA?key=cGd6ZmR3OEZaZXVLWTZpa3BTY3U0bzRtQmhMQW1n
To me (and my gf and even my vet) she looks large, but the vet felt her once and said she didn’t feel like she was overweight, but at the time we…[Read more]

mochi replied to the topic Clear Grids for Cage in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 5 months ago
I’ve seen people use them as dog play pens or animal cages! They’re actually what the shelter gave my possible bun’s foster mom for now. They’re like the C&C grid size but they’re clear plastic instead of the metal bars. I was going to use them like normal grids but without a top because air quality. I’m not sure if they’re good though so I w…[Read more]

@DanaNM
Thanks so much! Your reply definitely made me feel better. I’m feeling more confident about adopting a bun and sharing a room. I am home 99% of the time as I only leave to work which is only part time at mostly 20 hours a week, so whenever I’m home I plan to have him free roaming! I will look into the cube condo! I was looking at the gri…[Read more]

Maybe you could strategically place some new favorite toys in the problem areas? My destructive buns really like cardboard cat scratchers.
You would probably want to do a test with the soap in an inconspicuous area to make sure it doesn’t discolor it or damage the finish.
As for the lemon oil, I know it’s not good to diffuse it, but I don’t know…[Read more]

Ever since I started giving him more freedom around the house, he’s sort of been ignoring his toys for the most part. Also isn’t lemon essential oil poisonous to dogs and cats?? I don’t want to accidentally hurt my other pets. I’ll definitely talk to my mom about the ivory soap bar thing. Could I also rub it on the other wooden furniture like th…[Read more]

Ahh I remember now the situation with your bun and hay/allergies.
How long ago did you switch pellet brands? Could that be linked to the change in pee smell?
That’s interesting that she doesn’t love the stacks. My bunnies all seem to love them. They aren’t the same as hay for the teeth, but you can find 100% timothy pellets that are made for…[Read more]

I just re-read your initial post and I think I missed the megacolon part. Megacolon buns tend to have trouble keeping weight on, so that could explain why she feels boney as well. How old is she?

DanaNM replied to the topic Male-male bonding help needed in the forum BONDING 5 years, 5 months ago
I have never had good luck with tiny spaces, especially when they are fighting. Most rabbit rescue orgs also do not recommend small space bonding methods anymore (at least not as the primary strategy). Consider the fight or flight response: if one bunny is threatened by the other, and has no where to flee to, they have no choice but to fight.…[Read more]

You can also try lemon essential oil. I’ve heard that bunnies do tend to like the bitter apple spray.
I also seem to remember that back in the day people also used to rub Ivory bar soap on wooden baseboards? Haven’t heard it mentioned recently but it was something about Ivory specifically.
Providing things that are more enticing to chew would…[Read more]

Thanks, though it doesn’t appear that thirst is a symptom anywhere. I will see about testing her for that but other suggestions are welcome/needed still.
RE vegetables, it just seems like those options are not economical outside the lettuces. I can lower the amount she gets of the ones I listed though if recommended.

I agree with at least exploring the possibility of EC. There are urinary symptom-only cases.

That waterer sounds interesting. If it doesn’t work, you can always try something else.

My parents always stop by a couple times per day when we are on vacation. To be honest, it always seems like our absence pretty much goes unnoticed. I suppose it depends on the rabbit though.
