I’ve had my adopted Lop for 3 months now (he’s 2.5 yrs old, male, neutered him 2 weeks after I adopted him). We love him, he’s the sweetest thing. We’re dealing with something though and I can’t for the life of me figure it out and it’s driving me crazy!!  Last week out of nowhere without any major changes other than introducing fresh dill to…[Read more]

Monitoring it is wise, if it really is mites, it will get bigger, with more and more dandruff. Revolution (selamectin) is the best and safest remedy for rabbit mites.

(PSA: Never use any compound containing fipronil on a rabbit. Its sold OTC under many different brand names, f ex Frontline. It can be deadly toxic to rabbits. End of PSA!)

Ok thank you, I will just monitor it to make sure that it continues to heal well! I just don’t know what else could have caused it… hopefully, I am right and it wasn’t her partner.

Does your rabbit eat hay at all? Selective eating can be a sign of dental problems, in that foods that require more teeth grinding and effort to eat become painful/uncomfortable to eat, therefore they stop. I ask about hay because that is usually the first food to go when dental problems arise, and also because hay is the number one food item to…[Read more]

    Hi there!

My husband and I are adopting a pair of rabbits, a male and a female, who are siblings. They come from a shelter (previously a foster home — they were surrendered shortly after birth) and, according to the rescue, have always lived together in the same cage (partially because it was thought up until about a week ago that both were f…[Read more]

This doesn’t look like mites to me, it looks like a wound that is healing over and has formed a scab.

Mites can cause a type of scabs, but they tend to be very similar to the rabbit’s skin in color color and are easier to feel than to see. They feel like an uneveness/ thickening of the skin. They’re firmly stuck and can’t be removed without…[Read more]

Hi, I am concerned with my little bunny, he’s not been eating his pellets in a few days, he eats four or three grains and then ignores it, he does drink his water and eats his veggies as usual, he eats his treats and is still being active (digging around and roaming the garden).

He is one year old with 2 months, and a spoiled little cutie (loves…[Read more]

I noticed this scab on my rabbit the other day and I am guessing that it is mites or something similar, she lives with another rabbit but it is so unlikely that it was caused by him. I was going to call the vet tomorrow morning and try and get her an appointment on Friday, but if it’s advised to squeeze in a trip sooner I can try. I was just…[Read more]

Hi Sarah — Be sure to contact us in the future via the store/site contact us link (at bottom of web pages) as we will be able to get to you a bit faster.

Canada shipping:  Yes it can be very pricey.   Also the new store software isn’t fully perfected so it may be adding extra weight and size that is not really there.  We are working on that as…[Read more]

hi, ive had my rabbit for quite a while but lately ive really wanted to get a cat. i think i might get one soon but im a bit nervous about getting the kitten situated, and what parts of the house it would be in (since my rabbit has been all over free roamish upstairs) and all that stuff, let alone bonding it with my rabbit. getting a cat itself is…[Read more]

Yeah, Put fleece on the ground, and every day I let him explore around in my basement which is carpeted. Other then that, I don’t think that he’s in any pain or anything. 🙂

    Hi there,

Sorry you are having a tough go of it. Thanks for all the background, but I’m not sure of the timeline. How long did you allow Snowball to settle in before starting pre-bonding, and how long have you been working on pre-bonding?

For pre-bonding pen set-up, I usually like around 4-6 inches between the fences. 6 inches is usually enough…[Read more]

Some bunnies are mellow. 🙂 It can be tricky at first to learn what’s normal for you bun, and what’s a symptom of them not feeling well. You might find your bun comes out of his shell a bit and gets more adventurous with time, or he may just be a cuddle bug. If he’s eating well, pooping well, and isn’t showing other signs of pain (sitting hunched,…[Read more]

About a month ago I adopted a female rabbit to try to bond to my male rabbit. They had a date and it went well so I took her home with me but after she got set up in her new area the process has come to a complete halt and I don’t know how to go about it. This is my first time trying to bond so I don’t really know what I’m doing and could use t…[Read more]
