Hi Dana!  If the scent glands were clogged, would they smell really bad? I don’t smell anything foul.  What happens when the glands are clogged?

I took a couple pics, but I’m getting an error saying I’m not allowed to attach files to this post…??

    Oh dear 🙁

Does it seem like he could be choking?

Was the lump there when the vet did the CT? I wonder if he has an abscess that is interfering with swallowing or chewing properly?  The teeth and sinuses are related, so the sneezing may or may not be related.

I think a second opinion with an exotics specialist is a good idea.

    Hi Everyone,

I have an eight year old Bun, Shadow who has been dry heaving after eating any type of veggies and randomly drooling. I’ve taken him to the vet and both the Blood work and CT came back normal except a minor dental issue which the vet doesn’t think is causing the problem. As of right now he is on two medications Orbax (antibiotic) and…[Read more]

There are several members here who have cats and rabbits, myself included. They won’t bond like a pair of rabbits would, but they can coexist happily. The most important thing is that the cat learns the rabbit isn’t a toy. Make sure to tire the kitty out with lots of playtime before it spends time with the rabbit. A tired kitty is a good kitty. I…[Read more]

So, Myra is terrified of the ceiling fan in our new place. We turned it on accidentally when we first moved in and she spooked. We haven’t turned it on since, but today I thought I would turn it on low since she is more settled in now to see if there is any difference. There hasn’t really been a change, she is still spooked by it. I completely…[Read more]

Hay is very important for digestion and to keep the teeth healthy. Not sure where you are in the world, but you may be able to find a hay source if you seek our feed shops of livestock, or ordering online?

He started eating again, he doesn’t eat hay because it’s rare to find it here, he does eat chamomile to help his teeth, maybe he was just bored of it, thanks for the advice, I will take him to have his teeth checked just in case.

I’ll look at them, and I totally agree. I think I just forgot about them; they really need to be more promoted. I’ll bookmark it.

Have you seen the Howcast videos with Mary Cotter? I find those to be some of the best, non-judgemental and well-informed videos on rabbit care.

I think the emotional and dramatic titles are to increase clicks and get promoted by the algorithm. I agree they are very annoying though.

I’m curious if any Binky Bunny members have saw a need for a rabbit care channel that is less opinionated (so no YOU NEED TO BOND YOUR BUNNY!, and NEVER EVER FEED PELLETS!), and kinder about rabbit care. Instead of creating videos like: Why You Shouldn’t Get a Rabbit, I will create videos like: Rabbit Diet Options. While I won’t promote keeping…[Read more]

He will most likely be fine! He is probably QUITE pleased with himself. I would just push lots of hay on him to keep things moving along. If he seems like he gets gassy, you can give him a tummy rub and some simethicone.

Hmmmmm, could he have clogged scent glands?  It’s a bit surprising he would have poop stuck on his with no signs of soft poops otherwise, so I’m wondering if it could be his scent glands.

Could you post a pic or two of what you’re seeing?

Also, does he dig in his litter box? My bunnies were driving be crazy because they kept digging in the box…[Read more]

    Does he eat his hay?

Not eating a particular food can be sign of a dental problem, so having his teeth checked would be a good first step. Sometimes bunnies will also snub pellets if they are starting to have some gastric trouble. I don’t usually force the pellets on them (because pellets are kind of a treat anyway), but I do push hay and water…[Read more]

Is your other bunny a mounter? The location makes me think maybe it was fur chunk pulled from a rough mounting attempt, or possibly even some over-grooming by the other bun.

I think monitoring is the right move.

Hi there, welcome! And thank you for adopting!

So with youngsters that are together as babies, if they are spayed/neutered young enough (before hormones set in fully), they are often OK to stay together. Shelters usually spay/neuter really young, so the chances they can stay together are better and they don’t experience as much of a change after…[Read more]
