RE: length of sessions, there is no exact “science”, nor right or wrong way; however, you want to keep both rabbits safe. At the minimum, they should only be together for a session as long as you’re readily available to intervene if something were to go wrong. Additionally, it’s always preferred to end a session on a positive note (i.e., them…[Read more]

I cannot tell you how much relief it gives me to just have this communication. So grateful.  Should I just keep them in the space each day as long as I have time for? Or is too much time too fast a bad idea? My plan was to stay here till they are back to grooming and doing great for long times and then move bonding sessions back home to another…[Read more]

That sounds like a good session to me! It may actually be a positive thing that you are seeing slightly more territorial behavior, because it could mean they are actually sorting through things better. Not interacting constantly is OK and normal.

I have noticed litter boxes can cause some territorial disputes so I usually don’t add them until…[Read more]

The space I have them in in the bathroom is  a little bigger than 6×8. They are not interacting much, but not fighting. Hopefully they will start accepting each other again. This morning I let them out of their separated pens one at a time for exercise  and they groomed through the pen so I was hopeful it would happen during this session.

I have done two bonding sessions so far since we chatted in here. I took them to my mom’s house in a large bathroom. First day was a few tiffs and mostly ignoring from opposite ends and sniffing noses a couple times. Ended on positive after about three hours. Came back today. No tiffs so far but def seeing some new maybe territorial behavior. O…[Read more]

According to a vet webbinar I attended in 2021, middle ear infections, past or ongoing can be seen on X-rays. The vet can see if the bullae (structures in the ear that aren’t visible from outside the ear drum) are intact or if they are destroyed by an infection. So that may be one reason why your vet wants to do head x-rays.

    As Dana says, rabbit…[Read more]

I agree with the others, many vets will treat for EC as a precaution as the tests can be unreliable. Sometimes results are seen in as little as a week or two, but sometimes it takes nearly the full course. An anti-inflammatory can be given along with Panacur because some of the symptoms can be due to the inflammation caused by the infection. I…[Read more]

Seizures do point to EC and as LBJ says, EC tests are not very good. Maybe you could ask if you can treat with Panacur anyway. (It’s a slow acting drug so you’re unlikely to see rapid improvement.)

An inner ear infection (or, rather, middle ear infection, technically) doesn’t always have to be visible from the outside, although sometimes the vet…[Read more]

Typically, if a bunny is having seizures, vets will simply treat for EC and an infection. So Panacur and an antibiotic. You can add a NSAID too for inflammation. EC tests are notoriously unreliable.

Our beautiful 4 year old bun Louise has never had any health problems. Always gone to her check ups and has a clean bill of health. Well, 2 days ago she started to have seizure like episodes. I actually got on video of it starting where her face seems crooked and then she loses balance and seems to have a spasm of her lower body for a few seconds.…[Read more]

That figures! She did it while running off, but I was already coming towards them since she had been acting suspicious so couldn’t tell if she was mad or still in mounting mode. The buzz was something my bridge bun Elmer used to do when he was courting me before his neuter lol. My other buns don’t make that noise! It’s funny how different buns…[Read more]

Bunnies can be weird sometimes. Assuming there is nothing medically wrong, she may just be feeling secure in her pen. She knows the door is open and she can come out whenever she wants, but she prefers the pen. This isn’t unusual, especially if there have been changes around the house. I agree with Dana. Sometimes closing the door makes coming out…[Read more]
