Can you wipe the area with a plain baby wipe? You would just need to be careful not to pull at her fur too hard while doing it.

It sounds like it was just a bit of gas. A lot of bunnies will snap out of it if you give them simethicone right away.

Eating something is better than nothing. Anesthesia can make them have weird poops for a few days afterward too, so it may not be entirely the veggies.

Glad to hear things are looking better! Even if her weight has only stabilized, that’s still progress! It sounds like this vet was helpful and hopefully the x-rays turn out to be “nothing”.

Update: after I gave him the dose of simethicone, he slept for a little bit but then got up and started nibbling on some pellets.

<p style=”padding-left: 40px;”>The vet didn’t tell me to check incisions but i checked them yesterday they were just fine. I cannot check them anymore because she has like this outfit on here so she wouldn’t touch her stitches.</p>
She again had mushy poops and still eating just a little bit. When it should be kind of back to normal? She still has…[Read more]

Thank you so much, you guys always know what to say to make a worried bun parent feel better 😁

On the plus side I had the day off today and the weather is absolutely perfect so I took the opportunity to head out to a park and do some birding. Managed to pass half the day away without thinking about it and I got to photograph a Peregrine Falcon…[Read more]

    Hi everyone,

A few months ago, my 6-year old bunny, Sebastian, had a bout of GI stasis. He recovered fine (the vet gave him meloxicam and gabapentin, plus probiotics and critical care that we had at home).

Tonight I went to go give Sebastian and Juliet their favorite treats. She gobbled hers up right away, but he refused it and went and laid…[Read more]

    Ok!! Thank you so much!!

I have currently split my room in half and they each get half of the room so they can have enough room to exercise! I will probably be switching them every 24 hours so they can get use to each others smell.

Do you know how long it will take them to forget a place? I was thinking of keeping them in our room downstairs…[Read more]

I think you’re right about moving from neutral to home too quickly. I think part of the issue is that it was my normally dominant bun that was sick this time as opposed to my lesser one. When the submissive bun got injured, they fought briefly for dominance, but it resolved quickly because she was already weaker and separated from her normal a…[Read more]

    Hi all,

My rabbit George (1yr, neutered) has been getting really aggressive towards my other rabbit Bella (1yr, spayed) whenever i feed them their greens. I feed them their fresh greens twice a day, and lately he’s been lunging at her (especially her face) when he sees me approach with their food. He chases her and has grunted at her too, until…[Read more]

I give all the vegetables to him by promoting and watching. There are mixed lists of safe vegetables online, incompatible lists. I’m confused, thanks again. ☺️☺️

Not flaky or irritated it’s been like that since I adopted him a month ago but there is still a bald patch on his ears . He scratched himself 2-4 times a day . I just give his food to him.

I’m very glad to hear she is eating and active!

I wouldn’t worry about the mushy poops, I think they will start to resolve.

As far as cleaning her, I’m sure she is very sore, so I think I would just keep her area very clean for now. She also might learn to turn around and eat her cecals off the ground. Did the vet give you instructions to check…[Read more]

Ahhh, that’s so stressful. I’m sorry you are going through that. I think you probably moved too quickly from neutral space back into their home turf. Usually it’s recommended to “cement” the bond for about 48 hours or so before moving them to a new location.

Was either bun injured at all? Wounds can be disguised in fur, so I would check them over…[Read more]

I don’t personally agree with “fighting it out” (and I think most rabbit welfare groups are also against this), but there are some things like nipping, chasing, and mounting that sometimes need to happen. And of course sometimes fights happen even with our best efforts to prevent them. Different bonders have different levels of tolerance for fur…[Read more]

I cant tell you how happy your message made me. It even brought a happy year to my eye. It’s been a difficult 6 months and it’s such a relief to hear that someone thinks I’m doing a good job. You are so very kind.

Thank you so much for the advice regarding the massage etc. You have such an amazing bond with your rabbit for them to sleep…[Read more]

She has eaten greens, some pellets and some hay.

Her poops are always small size. But the issue is she had some mushy poops too. I think it was from a lot greens which she ate so I stopped that and tried to feed hay instead.

She cannot reach her cecotropes tho, and when I try to “clean” her up down there she becomes angry. And it’s just stuck…[Read more]
