I’ve seen my bunnies do that. I think they’re either licking their hands or licking the fabric that they’re lying on. Maybe your bun is licking the carpet because he likes it.

Well they gave her a cone to wear for ten days but i couldn’t do that so i gave her a shirt. She needs her stitches removed so until then I will leave the shirt on.
She would like to go out of her xpen, can i let her free roam in one room or is it too much? I saw some bunnies free roam on second day after spay but some were kept in cage ten days…[Read more]

They are both. You can apply it before going out. Just remember that rabbits can metabolize these faster than other animals. So you may need to use it more a little more frequently than the directions indicate for cats/dogs. However, this will also depend on the bunny.

My 4 year old male dwarf bunny is constantly peeing outside or right beside his potty box. Everything else is normal, he’s eating and drinking normal as well as pooping normal also.
Anyone have any ideas as to why he’s having so many accidents?

Are Advantage and Revolution treatment or prevention? Should I start applying it to my rabbits before we go out?

Nope, not in US. Should have specified.

I used the banana as a “telling treat” of sorts, to see if he would eat it and he did. I give my rabbits banana as a special treat and keep it in moderation, as I know the excess sugar can negatively affect their health. I did give him a belly massage yesterday which he seemed to enjoy a lot. I gave my rabbit-savvy vet a call yesterday (he was…[Read more]

Thank you both so much!!
Yeah, it could be that he’s full. And yes that was a lot of greens, as I only realized this year, haha — ironically we’d tried reducing them like a month ago or more, and that didn’t go well because he didn’t drink more water to compensate. Now he is drinking more water, so that’s good. But maybe he is outsmarting me…[Read more]

Yes, RHDV is spreading. Definitely something to keep in mind. As for actual flea medications, Advantage and Revolution are safe for bunnies. Never use any products containing fipronil (ex: Frontline), since this is toxic to rabbits.

LBJ10 replied to the topic Post-neuter questions in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 4 months ago
Unless the shaved area is irritated in some way, I don’t think a little bit of licking is going to hurt it. The area might feel weird to him until the fur starts to grow back. As for the neuter site, a little bit of licking is OK. But if he’s messing with it or chewing at it, you may need to take additional measures. And, of course, pain meds…[Read more]

Yes, as long as she is making progress, I wouldn’t be too concerned. As Dana said, you can always contact your vet about your concerns just to be safe.

It sounds like they are almost bonded, but not quite there (with the fur pulling).
How do they do in completely neutral territory? Can you move them into a 100% neutral space for 48 hours or so and see how they do? I think that would be a safer bet for making sure they fully cement their bond. The bickering might escalate since you are in…[Read more]

I think Bun Jovi’s eyesight has really deteriorated recently too. His was not great to begin with since he’s an REW, but lately I am not sure he can see much at all. I sometimes have to wave the salad bowl right under his face to get him to come over to it.
Do you think he may be eating less greens if he’s feeling satisfied from…[Read more]

Are you in the US? I know this isn’t your question, but I mention because there have been recent and spreading cases of RHVD, which is a very contagious and dangerous disease specific to and only rabbits. Although there are no cases in my state, our chapter of the House Rabbit Society is cautioning anyone who plans to have their rabbit…[Read more]

My rabbits are indoor buns, but sometimes we go out to grassy areas to play. I always ensure there is shade, no predators, no pesticides, but now my concern is the bugs. So far I haven’t really encountered any bugs besides from ants, but I recently read up on fleas and ticks so I want to ask for your advice on prevention/whether or not it is…[Read more]

If he is still eating, there shouldn’t be some kind of health issue wrong. Oats and sunflower seeds are good. I would just suggest giving his pellets right up to him if that is what’s working. He’s getting older and maybe it doesn’t feel as convenient for him to go over to his pellets, especially if he is in a large area. I’m sorry I can’t offer…[Read more]

so my bunnies seem to be ok together, but there have been a few signs that contradict that.
They were housed separate for 2 months of gradual bonding till we got to a point where we let them run together in our living room, a space where both had spent time individually and no fighting occurred aside from occasional brief chases or nips. We…[Read more]
