It’s generally advised that you let a girl bun keep the nest for as long as she wants it. A false-pregnancy-bun should be given nesting material and be allowed  to make a nest – because when the hormones subside, the bun won’t be interested in the nest anymore. He’s been doing this for awhile, he has another bunny with him it’s a female 2 year old dwarf bunny. They’re both spayed and neutered and get along amazingly. We give them a new memory foam mat because he peed all over the other one and it was chewed up. But even with the old mat he still peed on it and on the carpet 24/7.

I would keep an eye on it if the skin is looking healthy. Perhaps it was shaved for some reason initially and now the hair needs to grow back. It’s unusual for the ear to be bare during a shed, but I imagine it’s not impossible.

Is this a new behavior? If so, I would evaluate if there may be something medically going on with him, such as a UTI.

Sometimes rabbits can get a bit more territorial if there are new scents around, so could that be happening? Have you made any adjustments to his living space recently?

Also, is he neutered?

Agree! And lots of things to shred seem to be appreciated (paper mats, phone books, grass mats, etc).

14 days is what it normally takes for the internal incisions to heal.

Some short outside time after 1 week could be ok, but only with close monitoring. No binkying. No climbing or jumping.

A few days after a spay is much too early IMO. I do see a lot of recommendations for 10 days, but a lot of it depends on the technique the vet uses. In your case, I think as long as she is wearing the shirt and has her staples in, her exercise should be restricted.

Oh I see, yes the smells of the other rabbits could upset things for sure, especially in a new bond. I would be very careful about washing hands after handling the babies etc. When the new bunnies hit puberty be especially vigilant.

Oh wow, i haven’t heard they should be caged for 14 days, thats so long 😳 some bunnies run around after few days or week 😳

At the rescue we keep bunnies on cage confinement for 14 days after spaying.

As hard as it is to see her cooped up, I wouldn’t let her roam a room yet. If she zoomies or binkies she could pull a suture (there are internal ones too that need to heal).

Bun Jovi does this tons. I sometimes try to sneak my arm under his face to see if I can get some grooms but nope, he just likes to groom the floor. 🙂
