Well, eating a lot of hay will make a bun drink more water. I do think it wouldn’t hurt to call the vet though.
The fact that it is a big change from what you are used to means it’s prob worth looking into. And 2 cups in 11 hours is a lot.

Ruling out a urinary issue is important, and I also had a bunny with dental issues that had very bad box habits. Sometimes being in pain is enough to cause them to not care about going to the box. So it might be worth having his teeth checked if he has any other symptoms of a dental issue, esp since he’s a dwarf breed.
Sometimes it seems like…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Pellets or veggies-excess cecotropes in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 4 months ago
Excess cecotropes aren’t inherently an issue, unless it starts smearing and causing a mess. I suspect once your rabbit is on a more stable diet, it will settle down.
Have you seen your rabbit successfully eat cecotropes? There’s also the chance there is a movement-related difficulty in actually reaching down to eat cecotropes.

I use a brand of simethicone called Infacol. Brand names vary from country to country.
It’s a good idea to clean out the litterbox so you can keep track of how much he poops and pees.
If he doesnt want you to give him a massage, dont. Sometimes when buns have gas, they like getting a tummy massage.

Thank you Wick. I’m going to try adult pellets in about two weeks. But if the cecotropes come back, should I stop immediately or give them some time to adjust to it? I’m pretty sure they are normal formed cecotropes. We’ve visited vet twice and also did a stool analysis. The previous owner gave them a lot of dry mix before and there were even c…[Read more]

Also what brand of baby drops do you recommend? I see any and I’m not sure what would be the best for him. If I do the massage will I still have to buy the gas drops? I actually tried to do the massage but he kept moving around and it seemed like he wanted to move away from me idk if he’s uncomfortable me doing that but.. yeah. Let me know! Oh a…[Read more]

kanin started the topic Currently dealing with some sort of fly infestation in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 4 months ago
We’ve been keeping the doors and windows open a lot lately and frankly I’m paying the price for it. They started out in the kitchen but congregated to the bunny room, and they seem to be super attracted to their litter boxes. The weird thing is that they look like fruit flies but they prefer the litter boxes over the apple cider vinegar traps I’v…[Read more]

Hi, so thankfully my bun bun is doing great today. I think yesterday he might’ve just wanted to relax. My parents let him out in the morning and they said he went to his litter box ASAP(Thats where his grass is). He was drinking, pooping, and peeing. As soon as I got up he was binking so he is well. Thank you.

Sorry for the late reply. My dad and I changed the litter in his litterbox the other day and my dad said it was “soaked” but I still haven’t seen him pee a lot. I’m also noticing that he’s been eating a lot more, should I still be worried? I’ve been keeping a log of how much he drinks and it’s more than a cup within a 10-12 hour period, one day he…[Read more]

To start, based on age I assume your rabbits are not fixed yet (spayed/neutered). If you are keeping them together, please note that if they are male/female, the possibility of a litter is very high. In addition, regardless of sexes, the emergence of hormonal drives can cause young rabbits who used to get along completely fine to become tense and…[Read more]
